Chapter 3 - Closer

Heeyeon's POV

So my new school life started like that.

Its fun. And we are now having PE lesson.

"Run!" puffed Yuju as she gave me the baton.

We are having a relay. In case you wonder what's happening.

I ran in the speed of light towards the finish line.

s I arrive at the line, I felt a twist on my ankle.

I sat on the floor, groaning in pain. The baton had already rolled away to who knows where.

When my hand is focused on my ankle, I feel another person crouching down.

"You okay?" a sweet voice rang in my ears. I looked up and saw Joshua, who is now looking at my ankle.

I felt butterflies in my stomach. Its weird but I like it.

"Come on," said Joshua suddenly, standing up.

"To where?" I asked, still sitting in the ground.

"Medical room," he said as he turned so that his back faced me.

"Hop on," he said before crouching down for me to climb.

"N...nae?" I asked, a bit shocked. I felt my mind telling me not to but ny heart is telling me to junp on this very instance.

"Climb onto my back, I will bring you there," he said patiently.

"O...okay," I said and I climbed up.

"Saem(teacher), we're going to the medical room. Heeyeon twisted her ankle," he shouted across the sports field before leaving towards the building.

"Does it hurt much?" he asked as we climbed up the staircase.

"A bit," I answered. He seems exhausted.

"Noe kunchanna(You okay)?" I asked as we turnes towards the second staircase."Why don't we take the lift instead?"

"Its only 2 floors, I can handle it. Calm down," he said.

"A...am I heavy?" I asked timidly.

"Yes! Very heavy!"he said. Then suddenly, he chuckled and said, "Just kidding. You're as light as a feather."

I sighed in relieve after he said this.

"Ya! How could you lie to a girl?"I smacked the top of his head slightly as he laughed.

Wow. Its amazing how I can interact with boys freely now. Its just been days since I got here.

We finally arrived at the medical room and he put me down on the bed as I sat up straight.

The nurse is nowhere to be seen.

"I'll wait with you," he said as he sat on the bed opposite to mine.

"No, you can go back to your lesson! I'm fine," I said as he reach down for my ankle.

He touched it slightly and I flinch at the pain.

"See? You're not okay," he said gently as he sat down.

I felt my heart racing.

"Heeyeon-a," he said.

"Hmm?"

"Can we be closer? Much closer? At least, can I be there whenever you're hurt, whenever you need help? Can I be that close to you?"

I stared him. Not knowing how to response.

And after a bit of dead air, I nodded.

I saw a smile spreading across his face.

The next day, I heard someone knocking on the door as I ate my breakfast.

"Nae?" I shouted as I peak through the peephole.

I gasped as soon as I saw who it is.

Its Joshua!!! What is he doing here?

I looked at myself. I am still in my pyjamas with my bunny slipper on. My hair is a bird nest.

"Wait for 5 minutes!" I shouted at the door before limping to the toilet. Hey! My ankle still hurts.

"Why so rush?" my dad called behind me as I brushed my hair.

"Joshua is at the door," I cried. Apart from surprised, I feel excited at the thought of him at the door.

"Who is he? Your boyfriend?" my dad asked as he wriggled his eyebrows.

"Noooo!" I shouted as I pulled on my sneakers and ran towards the door.

I yank it open and to be greeted by a smiling Joshua.

"You shouldn't leave a guest at the door for 5 minutes,"he said with a comforting smile.

"Sorry," I apologized."I was in a mess when you knock the door."

"And you got ready in such a short period? Does your ankle hurt?"he asked.

I finally paid attention to it as pain spread through my leg.

"You okay?" He asked worrily.

"Not really but I'll be fine. So what brings you here?" I asked as I limp, he walks towards the bus stop.

He held me arms to support me and said, "To see if you're going to school today. Yoh should stay home, you know."

"Na, I'm good," I said as we sat down on the bench in the bus stop.

Joshua's POV

We arrived to school just on time since she's walking slow. But I didn't get fed up, I even find myself enjoying it.

I don't know what came into me that I went to her house to fetch her. But I think its worth it. Why?

"Hey bro! Why so late?"said Jeonghan as he nudged me with his elbow.

"Not like your habit, man."piped up Mingyu who sat behind me.

I took a look at Wonwoo who's staring at something.

We all looked towards the direction he's looking at and saw our class prefect Yuju, who is now walking towards Heeyeon.

While others tease Wonwoo for liking Yuju, my eyes are glued on Heeyeon.

She's...beautiful.

Okay! Stop Joshua Hong! You did NOT fall for that girl. No way man! She's here for less than a week!!

But I... I...found myself wanting to protect her.

I snapped back to reality when Junghan waved his hand in front of my face.

Mingyu smirked and said, "Somebody's in love~"

"N...No, of course not!! Pffft... I...In love? Hahaha, you're so hilarious, Mingyu-a," I babbled.

"Ey, hyung! Why are you stuttering? You like her!" Wonwoo said.

I like her? Really... Do I?
