I'm not going to pull any punches here: an impeccable book cover is essential is you want to nail your marketing strategy and get readers hooked on your book. The reason? The ebook marketplace is much more like an online store than a traditional library, which means you need to treat your book more like a product and your writing like a business. Marketing 101 tells us that the way you present your product (your books) and your business (you) counts for a heck of a lot in terms of whether people are going to be interested in buying what you're selling.

It can feel a bit awkward to talk so soberly about what is undoubtedly a creative a craft, but the cold hard truth is that your readers are consumers, and successful authors are very mindful of that.
