"I hated that plane ride, I wasn't used to going on those metal traps," Solomon complained, interrupting Derek's storytelling.
"You really did, you complained almost the whole way over there. Jake was the only one who was worse," Derek said, garnering an exclamation from Jacob, which Joshua snickered at. Dr. Max cleared his throat, and the five's attention was diverted back to him. Tapping a pen on the clipboard he rested on his leg, he looked them over once again, still harboring some curiosity.
"Do all of you still have this... bio-radiation?" he asked, glancing mainly at Solomon.
"No..." Solomon said, Dr. Max responding with a surprised expression, "but that comes later in our story, it'll make sense when we explain it."
"Derek," Dr. Max said, the blond turning his face back to him from looking off into space, "you mentioned a story, a 'punishment' that the other gentlemen went through, but the story was never told to you. Do you know the story now?"
The other four were getting slightly excited at the mention of the tale, but Derek became confused, drawing his brows together in thought.
"A-a little bit, but it's been years since they told me-"
"Nate can tell this the best," Jacob interrupted, "it was almost shameful to talk about this six years ago, but we love to mention it now and then, because it's really cool."
Dr. Max looked over at Nathan, who had his eyes looking off, deep in thought to resurface the memories.
"So the four of us, minus Derek," Nathan started, "weren't complying with what the Arroth-Nil council wanted us to do, which was to be in the invasion troop..."
