Dean’s POV

“I can’t believe it Sam!” I exclaimed. “Alice is a vampire.”

“A nice one,” I defended myself, “And we only talked.”

“Only?” I scoffed. “Then what were you doing when I came out?”

Sam looked away. He was silent.

I just rolled my eyes.

We were sitting in the Impala, which was parked outside a scruffy looking hotel.

“I guess this is the best one,” I said finally. Sam said nothing. I hopped out, and Sam followed me.

Luckily, we managed to get a room with two beds. Sam, still not speaking to me, went to the bed furthest from the window. I sighed, and dumped my bag on the floor at the foot of my bed. Then, I placed the Colt gun carefully on the covers. I stepped over to Sam.

“Come on, Sammy,” I sighed, “I’m sorry.” Sam raised his eyebrows.

“Sammy?” I repeated. Just for a joke, pulled him into a headlock, ruffling his tangled hair. He jerked away. His head caught me in the chest, winding me. I flew back, landing on my bed. I heard a bang, and bullet grazed my side. It ended up lodged in the wall above my bed.

“Yeowch!” I exclaimed, clutching my side. Sam looked wary.

“Sorry,” he muttered finally.

“Damn it Sam!” I exclaimed, “Bitch.”

“Jerk,” Sam replied, grinning a little.

“I hope that’s enough payback for you.” I said, wincing at the pain in my side. “You shot me!”

I looked behind myself, there was a flattened ‘me’ shaped spot where the colt was. I grimaced.

“Bad spot to push me into Sammy,” I muttered.

Sam laughed, “Sorry.”

“Though very inconspicuous way of checking whether I’m human,” I pointed out.

Sam raised his eyebrows and spread his arms. “Shouldn’t you check whether I’m still human?”

I winced a little bit, and raised the gun. I put my finger on the trigger, and cocked it. But I just couldn’t bring myself to shoot my brother.

“I can’t do it,” I whispered in a chocked voice.

Sam smiled. “Come on,” he urged. “If I’m human, it won’t kill me.”

I shook my head, “No.”

“If it does kill me, then Cas can just resurrect me.” Sam pointed out grimly.

I shook my head again, my eyes prickling with tears. “I’m not going to do it Sammy.”

Sam just nodded, his eyes beginning to look watery.

“If you weren’t human, the EMF would have been beeping long ago.” Then I noticed Sam’s tears, and I pulled my brother into my arms.

The EMF buzzed suddenly. I whipped it out in alarm. Sam was inspecting his as well.

“Are these things faulty?” Sam inquired.

“No.” I shook my head, “I’ve never had problems with mine in the past.”

Sam wore a puzzled expression. Suddenly, I heard a knock at the door.

“Come in,” I said warily. The door swung open, as if at its own accord. In the doorway stood a figure that made the EMF beep faster.
