Esme’s POV
“Jasper, stop it!” I hissed, as Jasper trooped past me another time, looking surly. He glared at no-one in particular.
“Sorry,” Jasper muttered in a quiet voice, “I couldn’t help it.”
Alice sat down silently on a couch across from me. Jasper shot a glance at her. I gave a quiet, slightly warning hiss at him.
“Jasper,” I noticed Carlisle leaning against the staircase, frowning in a concerned sort of way.
“Emmett!” Jasper bellowed suddenly. Sending Emmett to roar in, dragging Rosalie behind him.
“Where have you been?” Jasper demanded. I frowned.
“You don’t want to know,” Emmett replied in a mysterious voice.
“Emmett!” I rebuked him, making a disgusted face.
“Anyway.” Jasper said. “I need you to take my mind off things.”
Emmett grinned widely, and raised his fists.
“Emmett,” I warned through my teeth.
Emmett chuckled, almost evilly, “come on then Jazz. The forest needs thinning.”
The two of them exchanged a glance. And, as one, they broke into a rapid run, and left.
