As soon as I pounced and landed on some scales, the sand and ground fell away. The snake died from the fall, I landed on my toes as I fell. I felt something snap though when I landed.
It hurt, I wish I had Patch with me to get me out, or at least keep my company. I laid on my side to try and alleviate the pain.

I woke up and looked over to where I placed Ruby, before we fell asleep. She was gone. I got up in surprised rushed to follow her scent. The sand started pelting down from the skies as I searched. I'm worried for her and the kits that she should be holding within herself.
