Days after what happen, June and I did not speak. During the days, the new orphanage was built. I would often leave the house alone, and go off to someplace. One time, I bumped into Kayo. She glared, most of the time. The place that for some reason gave me peace, was the room of glass cases. I often placed any type of flower at the foot of each case, empty or not. I took a deep breath when I found myself at a similar place, a place like Clear pond in the other world. I took a seat at a bench. Pulling out my pendant, I focused on what I would be doing next. "Shinju", I heard someone suddenly say as I flinched by surprise. I turned around to see Kyre. Jamming the pendant into my pocket, I pulled a fake smile. "What is it ?", I asked him. "Come with me ?", he asked as he started to walk away. Wondering why, I followed him. I didn't know where it was, but it looked like an empty shrine. I hesitated to walk in, but I could tell that Kyre wanted me to. It was like a dark, scary lair. But there were lights. I became aware of my situation. When we stopped walking, we were in a room. I could tell that 2 others were inside. I stopped walking when I was at the door, Kyre still in front of me. "What's wrong ?", he asked as he pulled a fake grin. I shook my head. "Who else is in here", I said firmly. Kayo stood out of the shadows, following her was June. "Reason ?" Kayo grinned. "This is where you're going to die", she said as she pulled out a blade. "So.. that's it", I replied slowly. I walked into the room and grinned. I walked over to Kayo and grabbed her hand with the blade. I placed the blade directly where my heart was. "Feel free", I said while smiling. She looked at me with helpless with what I was doing. She pulled away from me and cut my arm. A deep cut, and blood already falling into the ground. "Don't joke with me !", she shouted, "Don't try anything !" I looked at June and smiled. He looked horrifies, which was kind of funny. I turned to Kyre. "What do you really want from me ?", I asked him. "I want you to leave this world", he said sternly. I sighed. My arm became numb, but I didn't care. "I wonder why Akari fell for you", I said slowly, "But at the same time, I don't blame her. "Eh !?", Kayo shouted, "What are you going on about !?" I turned to her. "Kill me already Kayo", I said to her, "That is your wish, is it not ?" She was hesitant. "And you Kyre", I said to him, "You're lost." He looked at me surprised. "I thought you were going to complete Akari's wish", I said firmly, "Yet you don't keep your promise." "What would someone like you know !?", he yelled back. I grinned. Pulling out my rose pendant with the pale stone, I lifted it up into the light. "That's....", I heard Kyre say faintly. I took a deep breath.
"I am Shinju, the 14th "Chuukaisha". Akari, the 1st "Chuukaisha" to complete her duty as the go-between, is my ancestor. This cross is the proof. I am Akari's descendant. I know a lot more than you think. However.... I am nothing like Akari."
They all looked at me with surprise. "You....?", Kayo said slowly, "Are that person !?" I nodded my head slightly. June took a step frontwards, but continued not to speak. "So what ?", Kyre said coldly, "What of it ?" I grinned. "Your wish won't come true", I replied while looking at him, "I will not fail." They didn't say anything, I headed out. June was the only one that went after me. "Oi...", I heard him say faintly, "Just now..." I turned to him and smiled. "Yes ?", I asked. He was hesitant. "You do know that you'll be hunted down now", he said firmly. I nodded my head. "You'll be one of them nee ?", I asked as I took a seat on the grass, "Will you ?" He didn't answer. "Don't worry", I continued to say anyways, "I don't plan on being killed yet. At least, I don't plan to die by being killed." "So you plan on dying on age ?", he asked as he took a seat beside me. I nodded my head. "Age 18", I muttered. "Why ?", he wondered, "You're only 14 right ?" I sighed. "June, life is complicated", I replied, "I already know that I'll be dying early." My arm was still bleeding. I had to rip a fragment of my skirt to wrap it. "Do you want to die ?", I heard June mumble. I didn't answer. "Nee, when you were around Jun's age, was Akari the one who took care of you ?" He nodded his head. "And then Kayo. The reason why you didn't turn her into a doll was because you loved her eh ?" He didn't do anything. I pulled out my pendant and layed down on the ground. I've been in the world for nearly 2 months now. Most of the time, I go out and help. Most times, I would stay home with Jun. "Do you hate me June ?", I asked him when he wasn't paying attention, "Not because I am related to Akari. Just me." He seemed distressed. "I don't", he replied, "Thanks to you, I haven't been doing all the troublesome things." He laugh. I could help but grin.
[Thump]
I flinched and quickly sat up.
[Thump]
I could tell that I was too busy thinking about other things. I could tell that my illness was getting worse. Minute by Minute.
[Thump]
"Hey, whats wrong ?", I heard June say faintly, "Hey !" The pain was too hard to ignore. "Tch", I muttered. I started to get dizzy. I could see June panicking. I closed my eyes.
[Thump]
I knew, that this incurable illness of mine would only kill me soon.

"Shinju", I heard someone say, "Shinju." Opening my eyes, I could see Akari in front of me. "Where...?", I wondered as I looked around. Akari walked up to me and held my hand. "Don't give up yet", she pleaded, "Don't fall asleep just yet." I nodded my head slightly. "I still have that promise with my mother", I remembered, "And our wish..." She gave me a faint smile. "Be strong.. Shinju", she said. I nodded my head again.
What took me away from being similar to Akari the most, was my illness. An illness that can be fatal almost anytime. What would soon be my death.
