I looked up at Kirk as he asked that question.
"There are men and women in all those torpedos, Captain. I put them there" I said. Astrid glanced at me confused as Kirk and Spock looked at each other.
" Who the hell are you?" Kirk asked. I remained seated, glancing outside of my cell at the two members of the bridge crew.
"A remnant of times long passed. Genetically engineered to be superior, so as to lead other to peace in a world of war." I paused "But, we were condemned as criminal, forced into exile. For centurie, We slept hoping when we awoke things would be different. But as a result of the destruction of Vulcan, your Starfleet began to aggressively search distant quadrants of space. My ship was found adrift. I alone was revived."
"I looked up 'John Harrison.' Until a year ago he didn't exist." Kirk said inturrupting me.
"John harrison was a fiction created the moment i was awoken by your Admiral Marcus to help him advance his cause. A smokescreen to conceal my true identity. My name is Khan." I said staring into Kirk's eyes.
"Why would a Starfleet Admiral ask a 300-year-old frozen man for help?" Kirk asked narrowing his eyes.
"Because I am better." I stated
"At what?"
"Everything. Alexander Marcus needed to responde to an uncivilixed threat in a civilized time and for that he needed a warrior's mind. My mind. To design weapons and warships."
"I dun belive ya got any 'umility in ya, not even a wee bit " Astrid commented, Kirk glanced at her and she gave him a warning glare before returning to her seat.
" You are suggesting that the Admiral violated every regulation he vowed to uphold. Simply because he wanted to exploit your intellect." Spock asked
"He wanted to exploit my savagery" I snarled at Spock as I stepped closer to him. "Intellect alone is useless in a fight Mr.Spock, you.... you can't even break a rule. How would you be expected to break bone? Marcus used me to design weapons. To help him realize his vision of a militarized Starfleet. He sent you to use those weapons. To fire my torpedos on an unsuspecting planet. and then he purposly crippled your ship in enemy space, leading to one inevitable outcome. The Klingons would come searching for whomever was responsible, and you would have no chance of escape. Marcus would finally have the war he talked about. The war he always wanted."
"No.No." Kirk said shaking his head and walking to face me. "I watched you open fire in a room full of unarmed Starfleet officers. You killed them in cold blood" He said
"Marcus took my crew from me." i said pained.
"You are a murderer!" Kirk said.
"He used my friends to control me, I tried to smuggle them to safety by concealing them in the very weapons i had designed." I said remembering the scene as it flashed in my memory . "But I was discovered I had no choice but to escape alone. And when I did , I had every reason to suspect that Marcus had killed every single one of the people I held most dear." I said, a tear fell down my face as I turned my back towards them. "So I responded in kind. My crew is my family, Kirk . Is there anything you would not do for your family? " I asked sincerely looking at him.
Kirk looked very understanding as he looked at me, I noticed Astrid was giving me the same teary eyed look. I had succeeded on getting her on my side and I knew that she would have compassion for this.
"Proximity alert, sir! there's a ship at warp heading right for us"Sulu said over the comms.
"Klingons?" Kirk asked
"At Warp? No, Kirk. We both know who it is."
"I don't think so its not coming at us from Kronos." Sulu said. Kirk stepped away and went towards the lift.
"Lieutenant, move Khan to med bay, Post six security officers on him. Astrid go with them" He said leaving.
