I don't really remember walking up, I only remember the pain I felt shooting through my head when I had.
My eyes were seeing blurs and it took a while to regain focus. As you might guess, the main thing on my mind was Echo.
I rub my eyes and blink multiple times before I can finally see normally. Looking around, I notice I wasn't anywhere near where I'd remembered I was before I fell asleep.
I wasn't totally sure where I was. It was very dark with only little streaks of light coming from small slits in whatever was covering the sun.
I reach up, there's a wall. I reach to my left, there's a wall. Out in front of me there was a wall. Behind me, a wall, and seemingly nothing to my right.
It felt as though I was trapped in a box and the thought made me cringe. I take a deep breath and rub my temples, my head throbbed.
I continue this pain relieving tactic until I hear something. Like a slight whimper.
"Echo?" I whisper. I hadn't a clue where I was so I didn't want anyone hearing me that wasn't supposed to.
"Huh?" I hear. "Kade."
I start to feel around in the dark until I feel something.
"What's this?" I ask her.
"My leg."
"Thank God."
She was over to my right and I feel her get up before wrapping her arms around my neck.
"Where are we?" She whispers in my ear.
"If I knew, we'd be out already."
She sighs and released me. I feel her looking as I had. Then suddenly a huge amount of light pours into my eyes from her side, kick starting my head ache even more.
She had pulled down whatever covering was blocking out the light and as my eyes adjusted to the brightness, we both realized it was a window. A car window..and it was moving.
Instantly, Echo began to panic but I rushed to cover her mouth before any screams escaped.
"Shh. You're fine." I kiss her temple and slowly remove my hand.
Then, I scoot over more to the opposite car door and pull down that cover also. Another window unsurprisingly.
I take time to look out and see that there's absolutely nothing but corn fields and it seemed to be mid day.
"Kade." I hear her say lowly. "What's this?"
I turn to her and follow her gaze to where the view of the driver and passenger seats would be. There was some sort of opaque sealing acting as a wall to separate us from whoever was driving.
I turn my head and look in her eyes. I sigh. "This'll be fun."
Just after those words were said, the car hit a giant bump and I jolted forward, hitting the make shift wall with my hands. It didn't even budge or crack or anything.
"Kade, I think I have an idea." Echo says.
I sit back in my seat, regathering myself before once again putting my focus on her, starring longingly out her window.
"Echo, there's no way."
"Hope you know how to tuck and roll. This is gonna hurt. A lot."
