"Thank you so much, sir." I thank the cab driver and hand him a hundred dollar bill. I open the door and look at my new home for the next four years. The university of Florida, home of the Florida gators. "Ma'm?" I turn around and see the taxi driver taking my bags out of the trunk. "Thank you!" I smile and take the pink bags from his very hairy hands. Ugh! I set my bags down and wipe my sweaty hands on my shorts. Its so humid and hot. I look down at my outfit and thank god that I chose this instead of jeans. I'm wearing denim shorts and a black lace tank top. I hike my purse higher on my shoulder and pick my bags back up. I walk across the cross walk and stop before stepping onto the property. "You can do this, Dakota. Don't freak out, chill." I whisper to myself before stepping dramatically on the sidewalk. Something hits my head and a string of curse words leaves my mouth. I lean over, clutching my head, and pick up the football that hit me. "Are you ok?" I turn around, ready to yell at the person who hit me, but am stunned into silence. "Uh.... yeah. I'm good, just a bump." I place the ball into my other hand and smile. He smiles back and puts a strand of hair behind my ear. "Yeah, that's a pretty big bump. Are you sure you're gonna be ok?" He asks, looking truly concerned. "I think I will be." I whisper. I stare into his green eyes and smile. He returns the smile and removes his hand from my forehead. "I didn't catch your name, gorgeous." He says. "Oh, it's Dakota." I say with a laugh. "Fletcher." He hold his hand out and I shake it. "Nice to meet you, Fletcher." I hand him the football and he smiles. "It was really, really nice to meet you Dakota. Maybe I'll see you around?" He asks, backing away. "Yeah, I'd like that." I smile and pick my bags up. "Ok. See you around Dakota." He waves and jogs back to his friends. I smile as I walk into the dorms. Maybe this won't be so bad.
