"Did you really dump a bucket of water on Sky?" I ask, totally stunned. "She wouldn't get out of bed!" He yells. We both break into laughter until I snort. Fletcher immediately stops laughing and looks at me. "Did you just snort, Mrs. Allen?" Fletcher asks. I cover my mouth and gasp. I drop my hand from my mouth and start running to the car. I try to push my legs harder when I hear Fletcher running right behind me. His arms go around my waist and he spins me around to face him. I place my hands on his chest to steady myself and he puts his hands on my waist. "I'm totally embarrassed now. I've only ever snorted in front of Jonathan." I lean my head onto his chest and fletcher chuckles. He puts a finger under my chin and lifts my face to where it's alligned with his. "Dont be, princess. It was cute." I smile and realize that if I leaned up an inch, our lips would touch. Fletcher closes his eyes and sets his hand back on my waist. "Kiss me." I whisper. His eyes open and he smiles. "Kiss me." I say a little louder. He lowers his head and captures my lips in his. I bite on his lip playfully and a groan comes from his mouth. "Dakota." He whispers against my lips. "Hmmm." He pushes me away so that he can see my face. "I'm not who you think I am." He says quietly. I can't help the laughter that comes out. When I see that he's being serious, I put my arms back around his neck. "Fletcher, what are you talking about?" I ask, completely confused. "I'm not a... good guy." He lets my waist go and leans against the hood of his car. "Ok? I'm not exactly a good girl either. What's the problem?" I ask, sitting on the hood. He stands in front of me and runs his hands through his hair. "The problem is that I date girls and then just throw them away. I really like you, but I don't want to hurt you." He puts his hands into his pockets and rocks back on his feet. "Fletcher, we're meant to get hurt. Our hearts are meant to be broken, but then the right one comes along and fixes it. Don't be afraid just cause you think you're gonna hurt me. Take a risk." I whisper, putting my fingers through his belt loops and pulling him to me. His face softens a little, but then tenses back up. "I'm sorry Dakota. I can't do that to you." He sighs and unlocks the truck. We aren't even dating and I feel like he just broke up with me. Completely embarrassed, I get in the truck and stay silent the whole way back to school.
