My Story- Book 1: High School

Prologue and Intro

"Kayla! We're moving!" My dad yells from downstairs. I ran down the stairs as fast as I could,

"Where?" I asked,

"That's a surprise. Think of it as an early birthday present," he said, "You will be staying with your mom when she's not busy for the summer. And when she is busy, you'll be staying with one of your stepfather's friends," I was confused,

"Why are we moving?"

"You see, since your grandmother left us, we can no longer afford this house, so I took the job offer. I'm sorry but you have to say goodbye to your friends for a while."

My name is Kayla Bowen. I am 16 years old. My dad and I moved to Higgins Lake 10 years ago. My mom and dad were never a couple when they had me. I am my dads only child and my moms biological 2nd child. My mom has 3 children, my big brother, little sister, and me. She also has 2 stepsons, Jason and Alex. Jason is my age while Alex is, 3 years younger which makes him 13. My dad is a chef and my mom is a business major in the clothing industry. My stepdad and mom's family live in Grand Rapids so I don't see them a whole lot. Since I've lived up here, everything has changed like, I can barely remember what happened before we moved up here.
