Why Me? [EXO D.O.]

Feeling the comfy mattress underneath me, I breathed a sigh of relief. It was just a dream. Well, a nightmare but it's still the same. It never happened, it was just my mind deciding to scare the hell out of me. I'd had nightmares before, everyone has, but never one so realistic.

Slowly, I became aware of a beeping sound. Is it time to get up already? It felt like I hadn't slept at all.

"Hey guys, she's waking up." I heard a male voice say next to me. I'd heard that voice before... but where?

"Hey, don't all crowd around, we don't want to scare her." Another voice said but this one was unfamiliar.

My eyes fluttered open and I instantly backed away as much as I could.

Standing around the bed I was lying on, were six men. My eyes scanned over them until they landed on someone I'd seen before. The one that had spoken just. It was Kyungsoo, the person who had saved me.

He smiled kindly and reached out to grab my hand but I pulled away. Even though he saved me, he was still the same as the other man. He was still a... vampire?

"Where am I?" I asked to no one in particular but it came out as a whisper. My throat wrecked and speaking only made it worse.

"You're in hospital," a tall man with dark red hair said from the other side of the room. "Kyungsoo brought you here." He nodded towards the person sitting on the chair next to me.

How did he hear me? He's so far away. But before I could ask, a nurse walked into the room.

"You're awake," she stated, walking to the side of the bed. "How are you feeling?"

"Not great." I admitted and the nurse only smiled sweetly.

"Well, I wouldn't expect you to say anything different. You've lost a lot of blood from the-" she paused, thinking of what to say. "Injury on your neck. I've never seen anything like it before, it looks like a bite mark but not from any animal I know." She frowned, shaking her head and then gestured towards the man next to me.

"Kyungsoo, the person that brought you here, said he found you like this. Do you know what happened to you?"

I looked around at the people surrounding me, each of them staring at me with wide eyes. Finally, my eyes landed on Kyungsoo.

The corners of his mouth curved into a small smile and his large, brown eyes gave me a sense of guilt. There was a cut on the side of his face and on the other side, a huge, painful-looking bruise. I still couldn't believe what he'd done to save me from that monster and I was more grateful than I could say.

Turning back to the nurse, I smiled slightly and whispered, "I don't know what happened." This only made the nurse look more confused.

"You can't remember anything?" She asked. I shook my head but regretted it instantly. The stitches on my neck pulled and made me wince in pain.

"The last thing I remember was walking home, something pushing me over and then I wake up here." I gestured towards the room I was in.

I could tell by the expression on her face that the nurse didn't believe me but what could she do? She just smiled kindly, giving me a slightly strange look before saying something.

"Well, I suggest you stay here for another couple days before you leave. The injury on your neck should heal in a few weeks. If it doesn't be sure to come back." She shot us all a smile and bowed before leaving.

As soon as the door closed behind her, I sat up and swung my legs out of the bed, careful not to move my neck. It didn't work though. The stitches pulled and I sharply sucked in a breath to stop myself from crying out.
