I was sitting in my room, reading, when I first heard a noise. It was only a small buzzing in my ears, like an annoying bug flying around my head. But after a few minutes, it got louder and I was able to pick up individual sounds.

There was a women shouting, but most prominent was the sound of crying, a wailing sound that was driving me crazy.

I frowned and made my way to the window. It was open and the closer I got, the louder the noise. Poking my head out, I couldn't see anything that could be the source but then again, we do live far away from civilisation.

Sighing, I shut the window and walked away; I couldn't leave. Father had always said to stay safe, stay at home. We couldn't risk anyone finding out about us.

But the noises only got louder as I couldn't help but concentrate on them, wanting to find out what was happening without actually being there. What bothered me the most was the crying. It sounded like it came from a young child.

I paced around the room, debating with myself. I couldn't just leave the child and do nothing, they could be in serious danger. Finally, I'd made up my mind.

Quickly opening up the window, I jumped out and rolled to break the fall. I ran as fast as I could in the direction of the noises.

In the back of my mind, there was a voice nagging at me to just leave, it has nothing to do with you, you're putting your whole race in danger! But I ignored it and soon enough, I was there.

I was standing on a small bridge that stood over a river. There were only two cars in sight. One was parked safely away from the bridge and the owner was running towards the accident, a phone in her hand to, presumably, call an ambulance.

The other car, however, was balancing precariously over the side. It must have skidded on the ice and crashed straight through the small wall and now half of the car was hanging off the side.

I raced over to the car and looked through the smashed window to see the driver. There was a large gash on the side of his head. Next to him, sat a women that was slumped in her seat, unconscious.

The driver opened his eyes groggily as if waking up from a deep sleep.

"What...what happened..." His voice was quiet as he mumbled under his breath. He looked up and met my eyes. "Who are...you..?"

"You've been in a car accident, sir. I need to get you both out. Can you unlock the door?" I tried to stay calm but the shaking in my voice was obvious.

"Unlock...door..." The man sounded confused and frowned. "I don't know..." I sighed in frustration and yanked at the door handle; it wouldn't budge. I looked back at the women who was still shouting down the phone for the ambulance to hurry up.

I couldn't use my powers, she could tell the authorities and then me and my brothers would have to move. I'd have to help some other way.

I reached through the window, straining to reach the man's seatbelt. I pressed down the button and yanked at the material but it wouldn't budge.

"Come on, come on!" I tugged at the material again and again, only stopping when I felt a hand on my arm.

"No..." The driver was beginning to come to his senses. "Save...daughter..."

Just as he said this, there was a loud groaning noise as the car jolted suddenly. I thought it was going to fall but was relieved when it stopped. But now, from the back of the car, came a panicked scream and the sound of quiet whimpers.
