A New Home

After signing a few papers, saying good bye to my aunt, and grabbing my luggage, I waited at the sidewalk outside of my aunts house to be picked up. Eventually a black car with tinted windows rolled up and stopped. Mr. Vivian stepped out of the car, opened up the trunk of the car and the passenger door, I put my stuff into the trunk of the car, shutting it, and stepped into the car. Mr. Vivian locked the trunk and stepped back into the car.
"You got everything you need? Because there's no driving back to get a pair shorts or a shirt you forgot." He said, turning to me.
"Yeah, I- I got everything." I said, letting out a big sigh, looking out the window at my home, realizing that it wasn't my home anymore, not until I was 'deemed fit' to reenter society.
"Good," he said, starting the car and driving, "let's go." And with that I looked at my old home as it disappeared around the corner.
The drive went on for a while, I had gotten bored pretty quickly without anything to distract me until Mr. Vivian looked at me.
"You know you can turn on the radio if you want" he said.
"Really?" I asked, turning towards him.
"Yeah," he smiled, "I'm not a giant mean jerk or something, I'm just a guy who doesn't want to see a kid who was obviously in the wrong place at the time in prison." I smiled and said thanks and turned on the radio. Eventually I found a channel that we both liked and was listening to the radio when a song I really liked came on and, to my surprise, Mr. Vivian started singing it. I joined him and we had a good laugh when he turned down the radio and looked at me seriously.
"Now I want you to know something Johnny, alright, I want you to know that some of these kids have committed serious crimes and may seem a bit scary at first but, trust me, all of these kids have something good to them, so don't feel threatened, alright?" I nodded along, my throat going dry at the thought of having to live with a bunch of hardened criminals for what could be months. "Fantastic!" He smiled, turning up the radio again and singing along to the song.
Eventually we lost the signal to the station and turned off the radio. Not so long after that we had finally reached the house. It was a slightly big house, three stories high with a big garage off to the right. There was a large garden off behind the garage a bit to the right where food was currently growing. A man walked out of the house and waved to Mr. Vivian as he pulled up. Mr. Vivian stopped the car, stepping out and motioning for me to follow suit.
"Hello Mr. Vivian, how was your drive?" The man asked Mr. Vivian, shaking his hand while shooting a quick glance at me.
"It was fine, fine indeed," he said then turned to me, "this is Johnny, he's our newest kid, I am going to give him the usual tour so could you please park my car and pull out his bags, I'm assuming you know where his new room will be?" Mr. Vivian asked the man.
"Yes, yes, I saw it on the bulletin, I'll do that right now, hope you enjoy it here, it's not as bad as it looks, trust me." The man said, turning to me then getting in the car and driving it up to the garage.
"Alright Johnny, welcome to your new home" Mr. Vivian said as he opened the door to the place that I'd be living in for quite a while.
