I stand up from my place in the window and walk up to the full-length mirror hanging on the back of the hotel room door. I look drained from the lack of sleep I had the past few days. I manage to put my hair in a bun-like thing atop of my head and make it look not so bad. I decide to text my mother to tell her I'm somewhat awake and ready to pack up and go. As I wait for her to reply I put on the change of clothes I brought with me for today and quickly brush my teeth. Not two minutes later I get a text back saying she went to get us coffee, picked up the car and is waiting for me outside of the hotel. I grab my packed suitcase and walk towards the elevator.

I get to the car and my mom is already waving at me. I flash her a grin and put my stuff in the trunk. "Hey babe," she says "I got us a little coffee on the go. We'll stop at a McDonald's outside of the city to get breakfast." I nodd and quietly sip on my iced espresso that she probably got at a cheap grocery store. I lean my head back against the window and tap my fingers along to the beat of whatever top 40 song is playing on the radio. "You excited to actually see the house now it's done?" My mom asks after about 20 minutes into the car ride. "Yeah, it looked pretty crappy the last time I saw it so I'm excited to see what you've made of it." The last few months my mother has flew up and down to Sydney every weekend to work on the new house. I only went with her a few times because of school and work, though. "You are going to love it, we redid the entire kitchen and your room has a roof view going on, that we made into a terrace just like you wanted it." She says and turns her head to the side. "I'm sure I'll love it."

We pull up to a McDonald's along the side of the road after driving a little more. "I actually have to make some calls so you go ahead and order for us and I'll see you in a few minutes." "Alright moms," I say and take her wallet out of her bag "see ya in a few." I close the car door and walk  inside. After ordering my food I step to the side and wait for my food. When the girl, who I assume just started working here gives me the plate of food I go to look for a nice spot on the benches outside. My mom walks up to me and sits down across from me. "Sooo, the movers are arriving in 2 hours, which will give us enough time to look around the house and get settled a little bit." She says. "Sounds great, I'm looking forward to see how my room turned out." I say as I stuff another chicken nugget into my mouth.

We were talking for a little while when my mom gets up to pick up a phone call. The second she turns around the corner to go to the car a tall boy, around my age in a McDonald's uniform walks up to me. "Hey." he says and sits across from me. "Ehm, hey ?" I raise an eyebrow at him. He lights up a cigarette and at this point I take a good look at him. He has blond hair laying flat on his forehead, deep blue eyes and a little scruff on his sharp jaw. "My eyes are up here, princess." He says, taking a puff from his cigarette. I shake awake from my thoughts and look him in the eyes. "Oh yeah.. sorry, do I know you?" I ask. "No, I just wanted to tell you I like your shirt. Haven't met anyone that was also a fan of Bear's Den." I take a look at my shirt and smile. "They're my favorite band of all time." He laughs "I can tell." He suddenly looks at his watch and stands up. "My shift starts again, see ya." He runs off before I can even ask him for his name.
