Emelia
A few hours later and we arrived at our new house and got settled. The last pieces of furniture got delivered about an hour ago and I had set up most of my stuff in my new room. The house looks amazing so far and I can tell that I'm really going to like it here.
I walk downstairs with some of the moving boxes I had already finished unpacking. My mom is talking to someone outside so I walk up to her.
"Hey mom, where do you want these boxes?" I asked.
"Just put them out here sweetie." She points to a place on the porch where more boxes are stored.
"So Emelia, this is Liz. She's our new neighbor."
I wave at her. "Hello, I'm Emelia !" I walk up to her and shake her hand.
"Do you like it here?" She asks.
"Yeah, it takes some time to adjust obviously but it's nice at least."
After talking for a while and an invite to dinner at Liz's house with her husband and her son I go back upstairs to get dressed in a somewhat nicer outfit than the one I'm wearing right now.
I still need to unpack a lot of boxes but I decide to leave that until later tonight or maybe tomorrow morning.
I hear my mom call me from downstairs to tell me we're leaving in a few minutes. I look in the bathroom mirror and fix my hair.
"Maybe her son's hot," I say to myself. "or maybe he's just nice.. I could use a few friends around here."
I straighten my dress and walk downstairs to see my mom already waiting by the front door.
"Ready ?" I nod at her and we walk out the door.
The houses here remind me of the town I used to live in, only a little smaller.
We arrive at our neighbors' house and my mom rings the doorbell. Liz opens the door and greets us with a warm hug and a smile.
"Hey guys, thank you for joining us for dinner !" She chirps.
"Thank you for inviting us." My mom says and we walk inside.
"This is my husband, Andrew." A blond man, a little taller than Liz walks up to us.
"Hello, nice to meet you."
"My son should be home any minute now so you'll have someone your age to chat with." Liz says to me and we follow her into their garden. Andrew walks out after us with some cold drinks in his hands and sets them out before us.
After about fifteen minutes or so we hear the front door slam shut followed by the voices of two boys laughing.
"Hey mom," I hear a familiar voice say. "Hope you don't mind I brought you another guest for dinner."
I look up at the exact same boy I met earlier today. The second our eyes meet he grins at me and winks.
"Oh hey, it's Bear's Den girl."
I give him a small smile. "Hey ehm.. McDonald's boy?" He laughs.
"So I see you two have already met." Liz speaks up and laughs at our little interaction.
"Yeah, I was working and I guess these guys had breakfast there." The boy says and plops down next to me. "By the way mom, it's cool that I brought Calum right?" I look at the slightly tanned boy that just took a seat at the other end of the table.
"As long as you two help me with dinner I'm okay." Liz tells him and pats him on the head. He groans and gets up again to help his mother in the kitchen. A few moments later the two boys walk out with plates and a few bowls. When everything is set up we start digging into our food.
"So," Andrew diverted his attention to me. "You're excited about starting school here?"
"Yeah, kind of.. I mean, I don't have any friends here yet so it'll be little uncomfortable but I hope to make a lot of new friends this school year." I tell him, taking a bite out of my pizza.
"I'm sure the boys will show you around, right ?" Liz says and looks at the boys with a stern look.
"Oh yeah, I'm sure the girls in our group will absolutely love you," I hear Calum say from across the table. "and some of the guys too..." He murmurs under his breath and I feel a foot kick me hard against my shin.
"Ouch.. what he.." I start to say until a pair of very guilty eyes look t me from my right.
"Sorry, that wasn't meant to be for you.." He sheepishly tells me and looks away, blushing.
I rub my shin and laugh it off.
After we finish our dinner and say our goodbye's my mom and I go back to our house to finish setting up for the evening.
I put on my spotify playlist and open the big window that leads to my roof. I sit down on the ground with my legs crossed and start thinking about today.
I already made two friends; Calum and the boy next door, who's name I still don't know.
