It was strange, extremely strange for Lucy to sleep in an actual bed. The best she'd gotten in months was the cushions off an old sofa and a fitted sheet. She was staying with Commissioner Gordon's house until they could find her a permanent home. He was nice, but everyone else seemed scared of her, except for his daughter, Barbara.
"What's your name" Barbara asked.
"Lucy, what's yours" Lucy responded confidently.
"Barbara" She responded, before being called from downstairs. She returned shortly after, explaining that they had already found her a home.
Lucy descended down the narrow staircase to find none other than the millionaire himself, Bruce Wayne, at the door.
"Hello Lucy, I'm-" Bruce began to say.
"Bruce Wayne, there's no way anyone in this city doesn't know your name" Lucy replied.
"Come out to my car" He said before thanking the commissioner and leaving.
Lucy was brought to a luxurious black car, and she sat in the front seat.
"How old are you?" Bruce asked her.
"Eleven," She said, "But I'll be twelve at the end of August".
Bruce just nodded and started the car, he drove from the suburbs right outside of Gotham, to the famous Wayne Manor.
"Woah" Lucy said, earning a slight chuckle from Bruce.
"Welcome to your new home" Bruce said. The massive iron gates opened with a long creak, and they exited the car at the manor's colossal doorway. Bruce opened the door to find an old man and a boy of about her age in what looked to be one of the manor's many sitting rooms.
"Lucy this is Alfred," Bruce said pointing to the old man, "And this is Dick" he said pointing to the boy.
"It is a pleasure to meet you Mistress Lucille" Alfred said.
Dick got up and held out his hand, gesturing for a handshake, in which Lucy accepted.
"I'm Dick" He said.
"I'm taller than you" Lucy replied.
"I think that you are going to fit in great here" Alfred said before him and Bruce let out a chuckle.
After a few weeks, Lucy got used to the manor, and got lost a lot less frequently. She heard her alarm go off, it was her first day of school at Gotham Academy, and she knew it was going to be full of snobby rich kids. She dressed herself in her uniform and made her way to the kitchen. Alfred, Bruce, and Dick were already dressed and in the kitchen. It had seemed that Alfred had made pancakes, which Dick and Lucy were very happy about.
"Alfred, your pancakes taste like babies" Lucy said whilst chewing.
"Is that a good thing?" Dick asked.
"Obviously" She replied.
"Why, thank you Mistress Lucille" Alfred replied.
"Hey Alfred, just call me Lucy" She instructed.
"Okay, Mistress Lucy" He said.
"No, just Lucy. You're just Alfred, I'm just Lucy" She said.
"Can do, Lucy" Alfred replied in his soft British accent.
They looked over to the clock to see that it was 7:15, and time to leave. Alfred, Dick, and Lucy walked out to the car and went to school.
Alfred was right, she was going to fit in great here.
-------------Later that day----------------
Dick and Lucy had gotten back from school that day at the usual time. Nothing very exciting happened, just a few quizzes and an assembly. They each finished their homework, and after dinner, they went up to their rooms. Lucy took a shower, got dressed in her pajamas, and was about to go to sleep, when she heard a strange noise from downstairs.
It sounded like a whoosh, if you know what I mean. Like the whoosh of a door opening, but not exactly. The only way to find out would be to get up and see for herself, and that's exactly what Lucy did. She silently traveled down the regal staircase and to around the area where the noise had been heard. She went into the library, and saw that a few books had been knocked over, when out of the corner of her eye, she saw a button.
Now, no one every taught Lucy to not touch unfamiliar buttons, in fact, most of the time she was instructed to do the opposite, so of course, she pressed it. The shelves lining the walls slid apart, revealing a dimly lit staircase. Of course, Lucy, being the person she is, traveled down the strange staircase that had just appeared in the library.
As she descended further down the staircase, she came face to face with what looked to be some sort of bat themed crime-fighting lab. Then she remembered what her dad had told her;
"You know, the bat brat's got his own headquarters" The Joker said, "But he's got it hidden somewhere".
And then she realized it, Bruce Wayne is Batman.
She ventured throughout the halls of the Bat headquarters to find a series of glass cases with the Bat's former costume inside of them.
And then she heard a hatch open, and the sound of a car slowly coming towards her.
But she didn't hide, she knew she could fight, and she also knew it was probably Bruce. A black car, no it was the Bat-mobile rolled into the cave, Batman and Robin climbing out.
"Hey Bruce, you got something you wanna tell me" Lucy said smugly.
"Oh god" Bruce said, "What did I do?"
"I've got ears ya' know" She replied, "And you're gonna help me train".
"No" Bruce replied.
"Yes" Lucy insisted.
"Come on Bruce" Dick pleaded, "She's already got some training".
"Fine, but you only act on my orders, got it?" Bruce said.
"Ok" Lucy replied, "I'll try not to be too unexpected.
