It took about half an hour for the four friends to pass through security and finally be out of the airport.
"The train stations just over there," Adrien pointed.
They walked down the stairs to the underground subway. It was packed full of people despite how early it was in the morning. They waited in a small area for their train. Many people brushed passed them and caused a few trip ups.
"We need to stick together," Adrien suggested.
He grabbed Marinette's hands, she grabbed Alya's, and Nino was attached on the end of the chain of hands.
"That's our train!" Adrien insisted.
They crowded onto a train and stood uncomfortably close to the other passengers. Their large suitcases and bags proved difficult to haul in. There were no seats available and little moving space. There was barely any room left on the pole to hold onto as the train jerked forward.
"WAAGH!" Marinette fell back.
Luckily, Alya gripped onto her wrist as she fell. The four stood as close together they could, keeping sight of each other. It was uncomfortable and quiet. Though what looked like hundreds of people were on the train, it was almost dead silent aside from the rustling of the wheels on the tracks.
"Well... it seems we're in a squishy ~ situation..." Adrien couldn't resist the urge to make a pun.
The girls face palmed while Nino lifted his hand for a fist bump of approval. Gradually, more and more people left the train and few seats became available.
"Marinette, Alya, you two take the seats," Adrien insisted.
The girls wobbled their way to the seats on the moving train.
"How much farther?" Marinette asked.
"A few more stops, we're nearly there," Adrien answered.
"So what are we gonna do when we get the hotel?" Nino asked.
"Well, I guess we sleep. But not for long, we have to explore!" Alya answered. "It's 'bout 4:00am now, we still have loads of time."
Finally, after their stop arrived. The four rushed out with their suitcases and walked the short distance to their hotel.
"Here we are," Adrien gestured.
"I thought it'd be bigger," Nino commented.
They walked in through the automatic doors. The hotel seemed to be the only slightly sophisticated building. Marinette had no idea what any of the signs on the doors said or what any posters meant. Luckily, Adrien was able to speak, read, and write Chinese.
"Ni-hao," Adrien greeted the reception.
He started chatting away with her as the three friends stared in curiosity.
"C'mon, it's on the third floor," Adrien directed the others.
They stood in the rustic looking elevator and exited on floor three.
"Room 179," Adrien said. "175... 176... 177... mm... 179!"
He unlocked the door using his key to finding the room to be slightly cramped and a bit small.
"Huh... there's only two beds...?" Alya observed. "Well, at least they're double sized!"
"Hmm... we definitely booked a four bedroom," Adrien said. "I'll go downstairs and check that we got the right room,"
He left the three friends in the room. The three inspected it. There was a small bathroom. In the main area, there was a large window with short curtains. The view wasn't all that great, it was mostly rusty and haggard buildings.
After a short while, Adrien returned. His face slightly red, though.
"Um... apparently, this is the room, they aren't able to change it so..." Adrien nervously laughed.
"Nino! I'm sleepin' with you! I've seen how Marinette sleeps, trust me, it ain't pretty," Alya laughed. "We dibs the left bed!"
"Whatever," Nino shrugged.
"So... that leaves... us to take that bed," Adrien blushed.
Of course, he had taken naps in Marinette's bed as Chat Noir due to exhaustion, but they were all accidental. Now, he would intentionally be...
"Is there cheese!?" Plagg yelled, breaking the awkward stares.
"Are we here?" Tikki yawned.
"Shh... I'm still sleeping," Wayzz mumbled.
Alya's kwami was sleeping like a rock.
"Hahaha! Nino look! They're blushing!" Alya laughed as she pointed to the couple. "Hahaha!"
Nino joined along too then began unpacking.
"I'm gonna knock out now," Alya yawned as she jumped onto the bed.
"Same," Nino took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes.
"Yeah... me too..." Marinette scratched her head awkwardly.
"What about you Adrien? Ooooh-ooooh." Plagg mocked the two.
"Plagg!" Tikki yelled.
Adrien gave a death glare to him.
"Jeez, it's just sleeping, I'm so hungry," Plagg mumbled. "Oh sweet camembert, where are you?"
Marinette tucked herself underneath the blanket and fell asleep before Adrien had even gotten into bed. Everyone but Adrien was sound asleep. He quietly got into bed and allowed Marinette, who slept like a pancake, to take up the most space.
Day 1 of the China adventures begins!
