Hold me

Riley's phone rang around 12, when Riley was placing a couple slices of Martins Sweet Lebonan Bolonga on a piece of Potato bread.

"Hello?"

"This is Susan from Mercy hospital. I'm calling in regards to a Lucas Friar."

"Lucas?"

"Do you know him?"

"Yeah. What happened? Is he alright?"

"I'm afraid not. Mr. Friar was in an accident."

"He's not dead is he?"

"He's not dead. But I'm afraid he's in a coma."

"He'll be okay though?"

"We're not sure."

"I'll be right there." Riley hung up the phone and raced out the door to her car.

Riley arrived minutes later and walked in the door to the hospital to the front desk.

"What room is Lucas Friar in?"

"Lucas is in room 200. Right down the hall." The receptionist replied, smiling.

"Thank you!" Riley rushed down the hall in the direction the receptionist directed her.

Riley walked in the room and saw a motionless Lucas lying on the bed, connected to tubes and IVs.

She sat down on the chair by his bedside and though back to when her and Lucas first met. When Lucas told her about his animals he had back in Texas. Their first date. Their first kiss. New Years. Game night. Prom. College. And most recently, singing on stage together. All of it gone.

All of those memories gone. All because of an accident.  The accident that almost killed Lucas.
Riley looked out the window and watched the rain fall from the clouds. Each drop going its own way. Each drop so different and unique.

"Lucas....." Riley whispered. "Please.... Wake up..."

She longed for him to wake up. For things to return to normal. For him to hold her once more.
