As they came up to the road Tabitha gasped and they shared worried looks with each other. Film crews and onlookers were all standing around the bubbling hot water of the ocean.
"Leo" Michael said, shocked.
They all looked where he was looking. Leo almost shouted out. From what they could see the hot bubbles and steam coming from the ocean was all around, it wasn't just circulating in one place like they had thought.
The entire sea side was boiling and steaming! A dark deep shadow in the water slowly getting bigger and bigger. No, not a dark deep shadow, there was more shadows to the left and right, slowly moving to the surface.
"Didn't you say there was only one?" Michael asked Leo, sounding panicked.
He stared.
"I...I thoughts that's what...I mean-" Leo cut himself of, shaking his head.
He couldn't believe this!
They parked by the side. Their weapons were hidden by the mist but there were no mist around where the metal beast or metal beasts were rising.
It was so crowded and so many people were trying to get a look at what was going on and the cops were trying to hold them all back, the group found it was quite easy to slip past.
Metal tinges of light were now shining from the sea's surface as metal started to rise from the water.
Leo looked at everybody.
"You remember the plan right?"
They all nodded and a chorus of yes was heard around the group. They ran for one of the shadows that had finally appeared from the water. A metal surface was rising from the sea, its exterior was steaming and at first it looked like a metal ball, though wiring that actually looked like flames were crisscrossed across the ball of metal. It actually almost looked like veins and the fire like substance going around and calved into the metal ball looked like blood.
They all ran at it. Ignoring that there were hundreds of other metal beasts coming and erupting from the water to their left and right, also ignoring shouts from cops and the public who had only just noticed them.
"Hey stop them!"
"Over there!"
"What are they doing?!"
"Never mind that, what are those things?!"
Michael and Mitch glanced at each other and nodded as they used the water to pull them all up onto the metal beast that was rising higher and higher up into the air. They all crowded around the edge looking down.
Leo gulped.
The metal ball had risen at least 80 feet. Leo swore under his breath but he looked at them all as he said "Remember what we have to do?!"
They all nodded.
Michael and Mitch concentrated and pulled the water upwards and through it at what they were holding on too, smashing the water into the metal, breaking inside.
Like Leo had expected, it was hollow.
Someone was controlling it from inside.
Damon went first, he lowered himself into the hole the water had made, trying not to get burnt or electrified.
They heard noises and a shout of pain then a loud thump of a body hitting the floor.
"Its clear" He shouted up to them.
One by one they made their way inside the metal beast.
Mitch or was it Michael's? Plan would work. Leo believed in it.
"I know!" Michael said, grinning. His eyes wide with delight and hope.
"What?!" Leo asked, quickly.
They all had been trying to work out a way to defeat it once they got there. Leo had been thinking about what his father had told him, that he had more power than he knew? Something he had yet to discover, but what did that even mean?
"The drill" Michael said excitedly.
With that Mitch gave a delighted gasp and clapped his hands together.
"Yes, that'll work!"
"Hell yes"
"I think you should explain" Teresa said drying, eyes narrowing in on them.
"Its an episode on the Avatar. You know the show we told you about?" Mitch told Leo.
"Yeah?" He replied skeptically.
What were they on about?
"Well, in it they travel to the earth nation and to one of the cities. The avatar flies up to the wall and they discover a giant drill trying to get into the walls of the city. A fire nation drill. The general at first-" Mitch started to explain extendedly but Michael cut him off, giving his brother a look.
"He means. They found the best way to defeat the drill was to attack it. To attack it from the inside" Michael said.
Teresa blinked, completely shocked that they had a good idea "You know I thought this might be stupid but you do have a point"
Samantha nodded.
"Thanks" Mitch huffed.
"It sounds like and looks like this thing will be huge, judging by the shadow and the amount of heat it's generating. Someone must be inside controlling it. No mortal can control something like that from the outside" Samantha added thoughtfully.
Leo beamed at her, he looked at them all and nodded.
He grinned "This sounds like a plan"
Leo gaped in wonder at the insides. It was quite cramped inside. Its insides completely covered with wires and bigger wires with the fire like substance humming through the metal, creating heat and it was vibrating.
But then something stopped him...
He stepped back slowly, eyes widening.
"No!"
"What is it?" Tabitha asked.
He shook his head, then stepping much closer and scrutinising the metal and the way it was melted and calved in with this massive robot. The way the fire substance and electricity flowed. The way the metal must have been melded.
"This can't be!"
His father would have told him...
His father should have told him.
"Leo, stop with the dramatic's, what is it?!" Teresa growled.
"This-this machine. It wasn't made by mortals. Mortals have control of it but it wasn't created by them. I recognise this metal and the way it was melded" Leo stammered, shaking his head.
"We- I mean they did this. My siblings did this! Hepeseteus uses these techniques. His children use this" Leo said in disbelief.
He turned to them all.
"Children of Hepeseteus created the metal beast he warned me about. They-"
Leo turned to look at all the metal machines rising out of the ocean, all with mortals inside, controlling them. Capable of killing all life on earth.
"-They created all of them"
