A Connection

I hadn't slept well the night before so I woke up that Saturday feeling a little off. I pulled my unruly hair into a high ponytail, pulled on some knee high socks, and made my way down my hallway in an oversized t-shirt. At the bottom of the stairs, I found a note taped to the banister. "Out with Uncle Babs, be home Tomorrow. -Mom". What is up with all these notes? And how does my mom go out more than I do? I walked into the kitchen and realized I had a house all to myself. I walked over to the sound system in the wall and played "Gonzoes", which was my current pump up song. I danced around the house, eating a bowl of fruit loops, and rapping along to the song. "Nice moves," said a deep voice from behind me. I shreiked, ran for an umbrella and whipped around to find Jaden standing in my breakfast nook. "Oooh, what are you going to do? Stab me with an umbrella?" he teased. "What the hell are you doing here?? You almost gave me a heart attack. Jesus Christ!" I said, adrenaline rushing through my veins. "Sorry, it was unlocked," he said non-chanlantly. Is he crazy!? "So you thought you should just inivte youreself in!?". "Well yeah, kind of," he shrugged, "Nice song choice by the way," he said. He walked over to my Iphone, that was plugged into the stereo. "Hmmm.. You have a playlist called 'hubby'?" he said. Oh no. I watched helplessly as he went through the playlist and discovered the inevitable. "This playlist is all me!" he laughed so hard I thought he might keel over. "You call me 'hubby', huh? This is too good. I knew you liked me," he said with a grin plastered on his cocky little face. I could feel my face heating up and I silently thanked God for not letting my embarassement be a visual thing. "Listen, are you going to tell me why you're here?" I asked, changing the subject.. He came over and put his arm around me, "I decided I wanted to see what you did for fun. So far I'm liking it." he said, while looking me from head to toe. This helped me remember that I wasn't wearing pants. "Very cute" he said with that grin of his. I stuck my tongue out at him, and answered "Yeah, whatever". I gave him a quick tour, not that their was much to see, since a lot of stuff was still in moving boxes. When we got to my room, I told him to make himself at home while I went to shower and get ready. "Don't mind if I do".

I emmerged from the bathroom fully dressed and done up. My hair was in long, black beachy waves and my make-up was pretty simple, with winged black eyeliner. I wore black leggings, brown leather boots and an oversized sweater, after-all, it was a Saturday. I found Jaden going through my photo albulm, "You were really cute," he said, referring to my childhood pictures. "So I've been told," I said  teasingly, "What do you want to do?". "I want to do what you would usually do on a Saturday," he said, eyes on me as tidied up a bit. "That'll be fun," I say sarcastically, "Do you really want to hang out here, eat, watch televison and go over homework from my acting classes?". He smiles eagerly, "Aactually, that sounds pretty dope. Where do you take acting classes?". I studied his face, he looked genuinely interested. "It's up in Vancouver, where I live.. or lived. I don't actually know the current status of my home," I said. "You're from Canada?" he exclaimed. "Uh yeah, I don't know if you're aware, but we sort of barely know eachother." I said. He nodded and looked at his feet, "Yeah.. I know, but I feel like I'm supposed to be your friend, you know? Do you get that too or am I crazy?". He grabbed my hand and I felt butterfles floating around in my stomach. Get a hold of yourself! We're done with guys, especially celebrity guys brown eyes and too much moneyshouted my concious. I stared at his arm, his muscles look so good, and his eyes looked so sweet. This is how the last time started, and I prefer is we didn't have a repeat. But he's so attractive and mayb- "Maia?You okay?" Jaden said softly, interrupting my inner reflection. I nodded quickly and took my hand back. I walked over to my desk to look for the binder. While looking, I notice Jaden in the mirror reflection, cocking his head to the side to stare at my ass. "Seriously?" I ask, with my eyebrows raised. Jaden grins and shrugs, "I like what I like," he says simply. He likes? We sit on my bed and go over notes. Jaden ended up giving me a lot of tips. He was actually a really good teacher. "I learned everything from my dad," he explained. I smiled at the thought that I was indirectly learning from Will Smith. After about a half hour of "working", Jaden  spoke, "I like you". To which I laughed and said "I like you too," and continued reading some notes. But Jaden reached over, closed the binder and tossed it to the floor. "No," he said, moving closer to me, "I like you Maia, I can't explain why, but I do, I really do". I was going to laugh, tell him he's being ridiculous, but I couldn't because his lips were on mine immediately. I felt a tingle fly up my spine and my stomach was in knots. We kissed for around ten seconds, and I started to kiss back just as he pulled away. His kiss had left a hot tingle  on my lips. "Whoa.." I said quietly, touching my lips. "Yeah..Whoa" Jaden repeated, scratching his jaw. "Come on, I want to show you something." I said, standing up and walking out of my bedroom.

I led Jaden back down the stairs, through the living room, and down a hallway. At the end of this hallway was a set of doors, which I pushed through to reveal a study. I was equipped with desk, a built-iin sound sysytem, a small bookshelf full of journals, and a grand piano in the corner. "Do you play?" he asked, walking up to the piano and taking a seat infront of it. I sat on the seat at the desk and shook my head. "Not really," I said, pulling my knees up to my chest, "Wanna play something?". "Uh, yeah, sure, what do you want me to play?" he asked quietly. "Do you think you could play 'Starry Room'?" I asked. He nodded and started to play it. I listened to his voice as he sang and watched as his fingers dance on the piano keys. When he finished, I was almost in tears. God, I am so emotional. "You're good, really, really, really good," I added while getting up from my seat to sit beside him on the piano bench. The atmosphere in the room was sort of weird. He had played such a personal song of his, which also had a lot of relevance in my own life. We were sort of connected. "Thanks," he said, reaching for my hand. His felt so warm on top of mine, but I panicked and slid of the bench to sit cross-legged on his carpet. "Tell me about your life," I said quickly. I spent the next 30 minutes listening to Jaden talk about his life, that had once seemed so glamourous, but now seemed sort of stressful. When he asked me about mine, despite the fact that I barely knew him, I had this urge I couldn't resist, to spill my guts. I told him everything. About my family issues, my guy issues, and most of my many other issues. "...Then I was force to move to an all-girls private school, he kept telling me that he'd wait and I guess I was stupid enough to believe him but finally my best friend let it slip that he had a new girlfriend. It was actually pretty brutal. And I felt like I couldn't tell anyone how much it hurt because I really didn't want anyone to tell me that it was puppy love or that I was 'too young' to feel what I was feeling. I never really got over it, so when we moved here, there wasn't even really any closure". He stared silently at the ground for a bit. Shit! I wonder if I had shared too much? "That's rough Maia, really rough. I just want you to know that you can, um, talk to me, if you need to, about whatever" he said. I smiled at him, "Thank you, it actually feels awesome to get that off my chest" I sighed. He smiled back, and said, "Let's take a picture together". He pulled out his phone and took a selfie of the two of us. His phone rang, breaking our little connection. "Hello? Yeah.. err, I can do that. I'm with a friend but it's fine. Yeah..yup.. okay. See ya" he said into his phone. "I gotta dip, and I don't really know what to say except that I think you're pretty cool and that I think we should hang out again. And again. And again" he said with a smile. I laughed and nodded, "The feeling is mutual," I sighed. He grabbed his jacket off the banister and reached for the door knob. He shot me a smirk but not before saying, "Bye Maia".
