Chapter 3

Eleven

I woke up to a growl in my ear. I turned over. suddenly my eyes got wide and I realized I had to run. It was after me. I was so tired but I had to run as fast as I could. I ran all the way to where mikes house was.

It pushes me against the door to the basement. My first thought was to use my powers to push him away. but it'd only be a matter of time before I ran out of energy.

I decided this is it. This is where I stop trying. It isn't worth it. To fight these monsters everyday and run away from them. But where am I running? Nowhere. This isn't getting me anywhere. All of my friends probably don't even remember who I am.

If life is just going to be a continuous circle of running and hiding I don't wanna do it.

so I stood still and closed my eyes.

I let it get me

I closed my eyes and it all went away.

I was ready to open my eyes and see wherever it is you go when you die

1.....2.... wait what

I heard birds chirping and what sounded like bikes crushing leaves

I opened my eyes

I opened my eyes to see Mike, Lucas, Dustin, and Will standing there

Mike

I stood there with my mouth open. Oh my god. No way. It was El.

She looked so pale and had a blue tint to her skin. Her hair had started to grow out.

I ran up to her and gave her a hug but she didn't move at all.

"El, it's been forever and you aren't even gonna say hi? rude" said Dustin

"I'm not dead?" El said softly

"no, no, no you aren't dead El" I told her

she looked like she was going to cry

"why don't we go inside before anyone sees us" said Lucas

We walked inside. I gave El a blanket and we all sat down

"I'm so happy you're back El" I said excitedly

she didn't answer. I frowned

"How did you get back?" said Will

"I thought I was gonna die. I finally let the monster get me but instead of dying I was brought here."

"oh my god, this is crazy. really crazy. I'm sweating." said Dustin, while pacing the room.

"can we talk about this tomorrow I'm tired" said El.

"sure" I said. she made her way to the old fort I had made for her

"you know you can sleep somewhere else?" I said

"No thanks" said El.

Nancy

" so wanna come to a party with me tomorrow?" said Steve

"No thanks I've got stuff to do" I lied. I hate parties. It's really not me at all. I'm not sure I even like Steve anymore. He makes me do things I don't wanna do.

"Nancy" Steve said while turning off the television.

"what?" I said

"You're such a buzzkill you know that right?"

"you know what Steve? maybe I am a buzzkill, maybe I am a loser, maybe I like to stay home on weekends. Maybe I don't like doing stupid stuff with your stupid friends that are just bound to ruin their lives." I yelled

"I've had enough bullshit from you today, Nancy said Steve." He got up, left and slammed the door making the pictures on the wall shake.

I didn't even care.

I turned the TV back on but I was interrupted by the sound of my brother and his friends arguing.

I walked up to my brother's room and just as I was about to turn the knob I heard my brother say "what are we gonna do? we have to be sneaky. we can't let anyone know El is back."

They are such idiots.

I walk down to the basement and lift up the blanket

Sure enough, I see El snoring very loudly.

I walk upstairs and barge in to Mike's room.

They all stop talking and look at me with wide eyes.

"I know El is back" I tell them

"what? no she's not. Nancy you are crazy." said Dustin nervously

"I saw her you idiot" I told him

"don't tell mom please" Mike said.

"oh I'm telling her for sure." I told them.

They all looked scared

"No Nancy please please don't tell her" Mike said.

"I'm telling her. I'm not putting my family and friends in danger again."

"so we are your friends??" Dustin asked

"ew no I'm not talking about you guys" I said

He frowned.

My mom gets home in an hour. Once I tell her El is back, she will lose her shit and that girl can go back where she came from.
