I made a prayer to the Almighty:
To keep Ego away from me.
It pursues me like a shadow in disarray
A wild deprived animal at day
Relentlessly on my door it knocks
Keeping my pride awake, it never stops
Its voice is deep in anger, shallow in lies
Ego is the cause of my demise
Ego stalks staggers then hunts me down
Free me Lord! With ego I am bound
Then Ego made a prayer
Oh Lord! Keep Surjit away from me
He pursues me like a shadow in disarray
And like a wild animal at day
He even stalks me wherever I go;
Haunts me, traces and marks all my steps
In this devilsh pursuit his ways are adept
Playing with me this conniving cunning chess
His obsession with me is causing me distress
When my Lord heard these prayers:
And held a mirror for my mind to see
It showed me holding on to ego
And it was ego that was trying to flee
