ZONNIQUE'S POV

After taking a shower and throwing on some lounge clothes, I unlocked and opened the bedroom door to go downstairs. I stopped in my tracks when I saw August on the floor, against the wall asleep. I sighed and kneeled down beside him.

"August, baby..." I said softly while gently stroking his hair. "Wake up."

A tired groan escaped his lips and he cracked his eyes open.

"C'mon, stand up." I mumbled while helping him to his feet.

He looked dead tired and it almost felt like I was leading a zombie into our room. I led him to the bathroom and stopped him in front of the sink.

"Did you sleep there all night?" I asked him as I fixed his toothbrush.

"Yeah..." He mumbled lowly. "My back is killing me."

"Why would you do that? You knew your back was going to hurt before you did it. I don't know why you didn't go into one of the guest bedrooms. We don't have this big ass house for nothing." I griped at him. "Here, brush your teeth so you can take a shower."

"I was waiting on you..." He mumbled while taking the toothbrush. "I didn't think you'd keep me locked out all night. I guess I underestimated how angry you were."

"Well, now you know." I quipped.

He groaned. "So, you gone have an attitude all day now?"

"I sure am." I assured him.

"Good." He said as he raised the toothbrush up to his mouth. "Because our first counseling session is today. So, the therapist can see the type of shit I deal with."

I cut my eyes at him and smacked the toothbrush out of his hand, making it fall to the floor before walking out. I could hear him mumbling stuff under his breath, but I didn't really care.

Then I carried her downstairs to the living room, where August was watching TV. I stood her up and she immediately walked over to the couch and crawled onto it beside August.

"I talked to Constance an Adelaide, and they said they would keep Ava while we go to our counseling session." I informed him. "So, we need to drop her off at their hotel room--"
