Iris POV
I sweep up all the access glass as Seth tries to measure the windows. I look up from the heavy duties of sweeping glass and potted plants. Seth is standing with his back to me, both arms outstretched in a 'Jesus Christ' pose to the random pedestrians. A small child snaps a picture of his Jesus pose. With a deep groan Seth drops his arms and with shoulders hunched up and grimaced face, her turns to me.
"You look tense," I say lightly. He moves his shoulder a fraction and it clicks. We both wince.
"Standing like that for an hour is killer for your arms," he rubs the back of his shoulders.
"Why an hour?"
"Well between the small children taking pictures and poking my stomach and not to forget to mention the homeless man who declared 'the Lord has come!' it was hard to do the measuring."
I had to laugh. He gives me a joking glare and continues to rub his shoulders. "Can't reach the creak."
"There's a river on yor back? Turn please."
He obeys and I do some random movements with my hands on his back.
"Am I hitting the river?"
I hear a click and then a relieved sigh and I know I have.
"I am in your debt forever in enternity," he tells me in the most calm voice possible.
"Just help me with this place and the debt shall be repayed," I grin and look at the floor, "Think I got everything?"
"You missed a spot right there..." he notices my frantic expression. "I kid, I kid."
"Cruel. Want me to help putting the boards back up?" I ask, motioning to the windows.
"That would be awesome."
Seth holds up the board as I secure it.
"I have to call the glass company and stuff about ordering some glass," I mumble. Seth looks at me from the other side of the board.
"My aunt works with a windows and instillation company, I'm sure we could get you a discount and free delivery."
"I don't want to put you off."
"Putting me off? I don't call her enough anyway," he lets go of the board and it fills the gap of the window perfectly. He goes to the back of the room to make the call and comes back five minutes later.
"I have bad news and good news. Which would you like first?"
"Everyone always says bad first so I'm going for good."
"Okay, they have that exact measurment just in," my face lights up, "but the bad news is that they don't do delivery until Monday and the guy who installs them is with his wife who is in labour..."
"Yesh. Bad timing."
"So do you think we'll be capable of bringing it home before the orders come in?"
"I think it will be a risk, but we'll be able to do it."
"We can figure the actual sticking of the glass on it when that time comes."
"Hopefully my two other helpers shall be awake by the time we get back," I look back at Andy who is asleep on the couch. "Will I bring him home?"
"Ah we'll bring him. He'll be an extra pair of paws," Seth pulls a goofy face.
"Har har har so punny. Come on Andy!"
Loading the glass into the car is the hardest task that I have been comfronted with in all my life. The glass is large and there is four planes pressed up against each other. Seth holds one end and I hold the other while we try to manover it into the van and Andy in the front seat barking encouragingly at us.
"To the left, to the left!" I squeal as we narrowly miss the entrance.
"Are you bursting into song?" Seth asks weakly, going to the left.
"Right!"
"Left?"
"Yes! Haha I'm not falling for the right thing again." We finally get it in, but Seth had to walk into the back backwards and out the other door. He slaps his hands together.
"Well that was a slight challenge," I say to him. He puts his arm around me and gives me a light squeeze.
"Iris, that bit was the easy part."
I groan.
Okay, imagine this. Two people in squatting positions but doing a little waddle walk while squatting. And there is four massive pieces of glass held between them. Imagine this in the middle of the sidewalk with lots of innocent bystanders. Now visualize the facial expression of Jesse and Sam when they see these two squatting and waddling people.
"Iris..." Jesse starts, with the most baffled expression ever.
"Yes Jesse?"
"Are you aware that you look like a constipated duck?"
"I was aiming more towards a constipating penguin..." Sam adds.
"I look like something that waddles, we've established that. Can you open the door for me, please?"
"Sure!" Jesse swats at Sam to open the door and Seth and I waddle in.
"Watch the dog watch the dog!" Jesse and Sam squeal as Seth and I swerve to the right and try to regain our balance.
I take a deep breath and look at Seth.
"Was that the hard part yet?"
He gives me a grin and shakes his head, "No where close, dude."
