I blink into my pillows, thankful that they're there so the sun doesn't blind me. I sit up and hear my shower running. Oh so Dallas just decides to take a shower. Doesn't ask. How nice. I tip toe into the bathroom and kick his clothes off the tiled floor and into my room.
"Morning." I mumble while beginning to brush my teeth.
"Yeah, yeah. I hope you don't mind, I used your toothbrush." He says. I spit out the toothpaste hurriedly and turn on the sink and wash my mouth out. Asshole.
"Hey, you just made the water cold!" He says.
"Sorry." I say while turning off the water.
"It's alright. It helps." Disgusting.
"You better be joking." I say while running a brush through my hair.
"I'm not. Wanna see?" I slam the brush down on the counter and run out of the bathroom as fast as I can while yelling a series of no thank you's. I hear him laugh and shake my head. I pull on jeans and look outside at the fall weather.
"Do you know what the weather is like today?" I ask while staring into my closet.
"Yeah, I went out to take a smoke twenty minutes ago and it was pretty cold."
"Alright." I say while pulling out my black sweater. I pull off my tank top and swiftly pull the sweater on. Man, I love this sweater. It's nice and warm and it's kind of big so you cal pull sleeves down to your knuckles. I love that. Dallas walks out of the bathroom with the towel wrapped around his waist. Thank god.
"Where are my clothes?" He asks while standing in the doorway of the bathroom.
"I moved them in here." I say while putting to the pile. He nods and walks back into the bathroom. I let the mascara that smudged under my eyes stay and just wipe off the excess and French braid my hair.
"You sleep the whole night?" Dallas asks while stepping back into my room fully dressed.
"Yeah." I say while tying my boots.
"Good." I'm getting the sense that he'll be worrying about me. And sure it's nice that he cares but I don't want him to think to much about it.
"Look, don't worry about me. I'm just fine." I say while turning around fully to him. His eyes widen a little bit then go back to normal.
"What?" I ask while tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
"Nothing. You just look different."
"Ok...lets go." I say while walking out of my room. Dallas follows behind me as we walk into the kitchen. I see my mom wearing her normal work clothes and smile at her. My mom works as for families with children with special needs.
"Hi, mom. We gotta run." I say while kissing her cheek quickly before sprinting out of the house. My mom doesn't it like when I dress in all black. She says I look goth but I like it.
"Why didn't you stop to talk to your mom?" Dallas asks while lighting his cigarette.
"Because I knew she'd have something to say about my outfit." I say while pulling the cigarette from his lips and taking a puff from it myself. I don't smoke often but every once in awhile I get these urges and I've had that urge for days now. I had it back to Dallas and continue walking.
"I like your mom. She's real understanding." Dally says while crushing his cigarette into the sidewalk.
"You mean, you actually enjoy a person. I'm telling the boys!" I tease while running ahead of him.
"No, Chris. Don't do it!" He calls after me. I feel his footsteps behind me as I run up the Curtis' steps.
"Guys, Dallas–" I begin but am cut off by Dallas wrapping an arm around my waist and tickling me.
"Dallas stop!" I laugh while squirming under his grasp.
"Please! I won't say it." I gasp while he tickles me.
"Promise?"
"I swear on Pony." I say between laughs.
"Alright." He says while letting me go."
"Why'd you have to swear on me?" Pony asks with a slight grin.
"Cause you were the first name that came to mind." I say while ruffling his hair.
"You look different." Two-Bit says while looking me up and down.
"Ok." I say while sitting down on the couch.
"I like it." Steve says while looking at me with his beady eyes.
"Lay off her." Dallas says while smacking the back of Steve's head.
"It was a complement." Steve says defensively.
"Not coming from you." I grown. Two-Bit starts laughing like a hyena making me crack a smile.
"Pony, Two-Bit, and Chrissy. Get going, you're gonna be late for school." Darry says while putting on his wife beater.
"Never bothered me none." I mumble while walking past him. He grabs my arm and plants a soft kiss on the top of my head.
"Be good." He says while staring down at me.
"Maybe." I shrug while walking out behind Pony. Darry has always been real affectionate with me. Maybe it's because a lot of people pick on me because I hang out with them. Or maybe it's cause my dad left. I don't know. Two-Bit wraps an arm around my shoulders as we walk to school.
"Do you think I could get Darry to let Pony go to the drive-in tonight?" I ask while looking over at Pony.
"I don't think so. It's a school night." Pony says while we walk up the stairs into school.
"I'll try." I shrug before walking over to my locker. When I open it up all my books fall out but they have this disgusting substance all over it. Oh god, it smells. I throw everything in my locker into my bag and rush back out the doors before anyone can stop me. I walk down to Curly's house, anger coursing through my body. I know exactly who did this. Curly Shepard! He tried to kiss me a few days ago and I flat out rejected him. I can't believe he went to school and trashed my stuff. I bump into something hard and rub my forehead.
"Watch where you're going." I snap before lifting my head to look into the eyes of Dallas. Oh, great.
"Sorry." I mumble while pushing past him. He grabs my wrist and pulls me back to him. I should've known it wouldn't have been that easy.
"Why aren't you in school?" He asks while furrowing his brows.
"I could ask you the same question." I snap back while pulling my arm out of his grasp. I get maybe two feet away from him before he whips me back around to face him.
"Tell me or I'll tell the boys about your wall." He threatens. I groan and pull a book from my stinking bag. He covers his nose and steps back.
"What the hell?" He asks while waving away the fumes.
"Curly Shepard." I groan while putting it back in my bag.
"Are you sure?"
"Positive. He tried to kiss me a few days ago and I rejected him. He did this for revenge." I say while slinging my bag over my shoulder. I walk forward and for a few minutes I think that Dallas just let me go. I was wrong.
"Where are you going?" He asks while jogging back up to me.
"To his house. I'm gonna beat his ass."
"You couldn't beat his ass even if he were asleep." I stop in front of his house and stare up at Dallas.
"If you don't support me on this than fuck off. I didn't ask you to follow me." I snap at him. He looks taken aback for a minute before he starts talking.
"Alright, how can help?" He says in an annoyed tone.
"Hold this. I'll be right back." I say while shoving my bag into his hands. I look up at the second floor of the house and see Curly walk by his window. Bingo.
