"I've got her. Now, get out." I heard Mel snap as she thought 'Aunt Lex? ... Lex, are you okay?'

'Not exactly, Mel. ... What the hell was that?' I thought a little disoriented.

'We think it's his gift.'

'Whose gift?'

'William's. We think he can shock you, literally.'

'What was your first clue?' I thought sarcastically, slowly getting a mental picture of Mel and everything around her. A little surprised, I thought 'Mel? ... Where are you? ... And who else is with you?'

'Don't worry about that, right now, aunt Lex. We've got bigger things to worry about.' She thought a little nervously and added 'We still can't find you. ... Do you remember anything?'

'Yeah. ... Give me a minute. ...' Slowly taking in her surroundings, I thought 'It was pitch black, and I could smell dirt. I'm pretty sure it was tunnel. Like the ones under Amanda's place, but they different somehow. ... They had a strange smell to them besides the dirt. I couldn't figure out what it was, though. ... I know I've smelled it before, but I can't remember what it was or where I smelled it.'

'Can you remember anything else? Anything you might have seen.'

'It was pitch black, Mel. I couldn't even see my own hands in front of my face.' I thought a little frustrated.

'Sorry. ... We just want to find you. -'

'Who's WE, Mel?'

'You know. Me, mom, Garret, ...'

I waited for her to keep saying names, but her voice trailed off. 'Who else, Mel?'

'No one.' She thought in a rush.

'Mel. I know you're hiding something. What is it?'

'It's nothing. Can you think of that smell? Maybe, I can help you figure it out.'

'I could, if you told me what was going on with you.'

'Aunt Lex, there's isn't that much time. We need to find you.'

'Where are you, Mel? Why do I recognize that room?'

'Because you were here ...' She blurted.

'When was I there?' I thought, trying to remember.

'When you were with Malcolm.' She slowly thought, regrettably.

'Malcolm? ...' As I realized where she was, I started to panic. She was in the little shack Malcolm and Eva had found in the woods. It had belonged to his childhood friend. The very same childhood friend that tried to kill us. 'Mel, get out of there! They could come through at any time. I don't know if we killed them.' I thought frantically.

'It's okay, Lex. ... They won't be a problem.' She thought with a slight hint of smugness and sarcasm.

'What the Hell's going on?'

'Nothing. Everything's fine.' She tried to sound reassuring, but I could tell she was hiding something.

'Melanie Alexis, you had better spill your guts, right now, young lady.' I thought harshly.

'It's no big deal. Okay? ... Don't freak out. Everything's fine.' She blurted in defense.

'Start talking, Mel.' I scolded.

'Okay. Okay. ... It'll be easier if I just show you.' She turned around and called "She knows something's up. Come in you two."

To my surprise, Malcolm and Eva came through the front door. 'What the hell?! ... Run!'
