Fidd awoke to a glorious morning, he decided not to get changed, after all these were basically brand new clothes, thanks to Sarah. He made his way down the corridor, he roughly knew where he was going since he had walked down this hall a few times before. He found Stanford in the kitchen, he was writing in some book or journal. It was a maroon colour and thick with notes and pages.
"Morning" Stanford yawned looking up at Fidd.
"Morning" Fidd groaned back at him. He saw the coffee pot on the counter.
"Is this safe to drink or is it iodine?" Fidd moaned as he moved toward the coffee pot.
"Now why on earth would I put iodine in a coffee pot?" He chuckled.
"Cause you have a death trap disguised as a toaster sitting over there" he pointed at the contraption sitting on the counter.
"It's coffee Fiddleford, you can drink it" he chuckled resuming with his book. Fidd poured himself a cup of coffee. It's strong pungent aroma filled the air, even though Fidd shouldn't drink coffee because of its 'hyper effects' on him. He pulled the mug to his lips and blew it gently, cooling it down. He then took in large gulps and sat down adjacent to Ford.
"What are we doing today then?" Fidd groaned as he rubbed his sleepy eyes.
"Well, I was going on an expedition today to find a creature. I didn't know if you wanted to come with me?" Ford said closing his book. Now even though Ford made it clear he didn't like Fidd in that way anymore, Fidd still did and loved just being with him.
"Well of course, what sort of assistant would I be if I didn't assist you?" He smiled taking a sip from his coffee.
"Brilliant, I'll go pack us a bag" he smiled and got up from the table. Just seeing Ford smile made Fidd go crazy. A wide smile grew on his face. Ford then picked up his journal and left the room.About half an hour later they began their journey. Ford was wearing a sweater vest with a brown trench coat and his boots were muddy. Fidd was wearing a new white shirt, a pristine white lab coat and a black tie. He felt severely overdressed for their outing but Ford said it was fine. The trees stood all around them. Standing tall, like the guardians of the forest. Birds sang sweet harmonious songs and the forest smelt of sweet pine needles. Fidd stayed glued to Fords side, he didn't want to get lost in this gigantic forest.
"Ford, you didn't say what creature we were going after" Fidd stated nervously as the wind picked up and the forest grew darker. Ford was buried in his journal, studying his surroundings whilst tracking the beast he had set out to find.
"Oh. I Didn't? Well actually it's a creature called a gremloblin. A hybrid between a gremlin and a goblin" Ford said looking up from his journal.
"A what!?" Fidd blurted out in a panicked tone. He thought they were just going out to find an albino deer or something.
"A gremloblin. I've been tracking it for months- wait" Ford paused as he looked past a giant tree.
"What is it?" Fidd whispered and tried to look in the same direction. Then he saw it, a giant green coloured creature fast asleep in the clearing. It had what it seemed like moss and fungi growing on its body. It stank of putrid meat and it had two giant tusks that stuck out from its gaping mouth. Fidd was terrified and cowered behind a tree. Ford was ecstatic. He crouched by a bush and began to take detailed notes. The beast's snoring was loud and blood curdling. Fidd was desperate to leave but didn't want to sabotage Ford's exposition. After about ten minutes of waiting, holding his breath between the creatures giant snores Fiddleford thought it was time to go.
"Stanford, can we please leave. It's gunna wake up any minute now" Fidd whispered in a panicked tone looking over at Ford.
"Shh. There is nothing to fear Fiddleford. It's deep in its sleep. We're fine" he said jotting down notes in his journal.
"Stanford please" Fidd begged.
"We are perfectly safe, nothing can wake it-" Stanford was stopped mid sentence because a shrill, ear piercing beep was coming from Fidd's back pack. Fidd panicked and frantically tried to turn off the device in his bag but it was too late. The monster had woken up, in a rather bad mood and stormed over to the two scientists. Fidd was grabbed by the creatures massive paw.
"Stanford!" Fidd screamed as the gremloblin moved him up to his face. Fidd struggled in the monsters grasp. Stanford looked around frantically trying to find a solution to their problem.
"Hold on Fiddleford!" He yelled rummaging through his bag for a weapon. Fidd punched against the giants fist with little effect on the monster. Suddenly it's eyes turned a bright, mesmerising yellow and glared into Fidd's sea blue eyes. Fidd's body loosened up as he met the creatures burning gaze. His own eyes turned the golden yellow as he began to see his worst nightmare. He was in a court room, his sister was there, so was his solicitor and Samantha. The room was silent and every one in the room was staring up at the judge. He looked down at Fidd before speaking.
"As my final verdict I here by give miss Samantha Grey full custody of Tate McGucket" his loud voice boomed thought the court room before he banged his gabble. Then the next thing he knew Tate was being dragged away by Samantha into her car. He was screaming for his pa as she gripped his arm tight. Tears in his eyes trying to fight her devil grip.Suddenly Fidd was pulled out of his trance. His eyes had filled with tears and he was gasping for air. Ford had found a canteen in his bag and threw it at the gremloblin taking its concentration away from Fidd. As it moved to face Ford its claws sliced into Fidd's arm, defusing a neurotoxin into his blood stream.
"Over here you grotesque monster!" Ford flailed his arms in the air to get the creatures attention. The monster then dropped Fidd to the ground and went after Ford. Fiddleford was frozen stiff, the neurotoxins in his blood had caused a paralysis throughout his body. He lay there on the forest floor, stiff as a board. He was still crying over his vision and was panicking over where Ford was and if he was okay. After a few minutes of waiting in hellish silence Ford returned, he grabbed Fidd and ran as fast as he could. Fidd could barely speak as tears poured down his face.
