About two weeks had past, Fiddleford had set up a makeshift business fixing computers in Sarah's garage. He and Tate were happy now. They were away from their abusive home and their future was looking bright apart from the large bill that was forever growing for the solicitors. Fiddleford was beginning to worry that he wouldn't be able to pay for his services and his case would be dropped. He needed money and fixing computers wasn't exactly brining in a steady income. Sarah was also finding it hard to cope, on a waitresses wages she could barely help her brother let alone herself. They needed help and fast.
Fidd was in the garage tuning his banjo when the telephone beside him rang out. Fidd got excited, this was a potential customer. He desperately needed the money. He quickly picked up the phone and pulled it close to his ear.
"Hello? Fiddleford computermajigs?" He questioned hoping that the person calling was in need of his assistance. Instead came a familiar voice, a voice Fiddleford knew all too well.
"Fiddleford? It's me Stanford pines, your college roommate" the voice stated from the other end of the phone connection. Fiddleford could barely try to contain his excitement, after all these years he had finally found Stanford or rather Stanford found him.
"Fiddleford, listen to me. I am undergoing a huge project and I need your help. I'm building a portal to different dimensions and I need an engineer I can trust to help me. What do you say?" The friendly voice asked.
"You say you're tryin' to build a transuniversal polydimensional metavortex?" Fiddleford asked, grinning from ear to ear with joy to hear his partners voice once again.
"Yes, so you want to help me?" Stanford asked.
"Well that's mathematically feasible!" Fidd slammed his fist against the table. "I reckon" he then spat into a near by spittoon, the clunk of the old metal rang out for a short while before quieting down.
"So you'll help me?" Ford asked.
"Of course Stanford, anything for you" Fidd turned red from embarrassment, he didn't mean to say that, it just slipped out.
"Fantastic, I'm going to need you to come live here with me for a while however....so we can keep working on the portal with out delay" Ford coughed from the end of the phone connection. Fidd gave out a short and silent sigh of relief as what he said must have gone straight over Fords head.
"Um Stanford, I need to ask. Will I be getting paid for this?" Fidd stuttered as he tried to ask it in its simplest and nicest way.
"Of course what kind of job would this be if you didn't get paid?" Ford chuckled to himself at the end of the phone line.
"Okay, perfect. Um. Where do I need to go cause you haven't told me that part" Fidd smiled to himself, Ford would usually get so excited about something that he would skip details and most of the time Fidd would just be confused as to what Stanford was talking about.
"Oh, of course. It's roadkill county Oregon, Gravity falls"
Fidd jotted down these note of a nearby piece of paper.
"And when do you want me to arrive?"
"Any day would be fine, the sooner the better. We have much work to do" Ford spoke a lot slower this time making sure he told Fidd every detail.
"How's Tuesday? About midday?" Fidd asked, pulling his pen away from the paper.
"Perfect. I will be glad to see you"
Fidd almost choked on his spit after hearing Ford say those words.
"S-see you Tuesday" he stuttered, he was blushing vibrantly and his face was hurting from smiling so much.
"Goodbye Fiddleford, see you Tuesday" Fords friendly voice came from the phone once more before hanging up. Fidd was shaking from excitement, he couldn't believe it. After all these years, just hearing Stanford's voice made him melt like a school boy with a crush just like he did when they were in college. Fidd had a warm fuzzy feeling growing from inside him. All his feelings for Ford were flooding back to him at an unsettling pace. He couldn't cope. He wanted to see him again, he wanted to listen to his voice again, he wanted to be in Fords warm embrace again. He got up fron his chair and ran into the house to find his sister to tell her the news. Fidd rummaged through the house at great pace. She and Tate were playing in the living room when Fidd found them. He strode into the room with a firm step and a joyous grin plastered on his face. Sarah was surprised to see her brother with such a happy expression.
"Why so happy?" She raised a brow.
"I need to talk to you in the kitchen" he squealed trying his best to contain his excitement. She obeyed his request and stood up from the floor.
"I will be right back okay?" She patted Tate in the head before leaving the room with her brother.
