Robbie's POV
I stood at the jeweler's store, getting the ring. I walked out with the box in hand. I took a deep breath and smiled. Maybe this would finally prove my love for her. Maybe she'd finally take me back. Even if she didn't say yes, she could take me back. I planned on going home, decorating the backyard, and asking her to speak with me back there. Then I'd propose. I put the box in my pocket and got home as fast as I could. I walked in. The lights were still on. I ran to the basement and grabbed the box of decorations for the backyard that we got for a birthday party we through for Jared the second year we were together. I ran up to her room and knocked.
"Max!"
No answer.
"Maxine, please open the door."
Silence.
"I know you're angry. I just...I wanna talk to you in the backyard. Please?"
Nothing.
"Max?" I tried opening the door. It was unlocked and she wasn't there. "Maxine! Max, where are you?" There was no answer. I walked back to the living room and saw a paper on the coffee table. My hands shook as I reached to pick it up. She wouldn't leave and just leave a note, would she.
Don't worry. She's safe. She's with family. She's home. Leave her alone. She's where she belongs now. We're her real family.
I panicked. Someone took her. Someone took my Max. I picked up the phone and called 911.

Dozens of police officers were searching the house. All they had was the note and residue of a small rag. They told me they used it, along with some toxin, to knock her out. One officer was sitting with me, trying to calm me down, trying to get answers. Others went to her parents' house to tell her family what happen.
"What's gonna happen to her parents and brother?", I asked the officer who was comforting me. She seemed to be the only nice one. But I knew her job was to remain calm. The others were doing their job too.
"The note said that she was home with her real family. Right now, her parents and brother are prime suspects.", she told me.
"No. They wouldn't do that. They love her."
"Maybe they felt that because they love her, they had to take her."
"No."
"Would there be a reason for them to believe she wasn't happy here with you."
"Well...we kinda broke up. I cheated on her." Tears started pouring out again. "I never meant to hurt her. I just...I love her more than anything. I don't know why I-" I stopped and broke down.
"Hey, it's alright.", she said, putting her hand on my shoulder. "I know you must feel guilty. It's okay. She's gonna be fine. We're gonna find her."
"I've been...trying to make it up to her. I've been buying her stuff. Telling her how much I love her when I give her all these gifts. She was right. They were pointless. They didn't mean anything. They were just signs of me trying to buy her back. I wasn't, really. I need her. Sh-she's everything to me."
"I know. I believe you. We're gonna find her."
"What did you do to her!?", I heard someone yell. I looked. Jared was being held back by an officer. I stood up and watched him. "It's your fault! I trusted you! If anything happens to my sister, I swear-" He was cut off by the officer pulling him out of the house along with his very scared looking parents. I sat back down, eyes wide, shivering again.
