Mia's POV

Even though Alexander had been acting like everything was fine, I knew something had happened that morning at my house. We were completely fine until I walked in my kitchen to tell him I was ready when I saw him sitting on my kitchen chair looking completely broken.

He looked like a helpless child struggling to stay alive. As if his whole life had just been taken from him. I had never seen him so vulnerable before and it did shock me when I saw a tear fall down his cheek slowly. All I wanted to do was comfort him and hug him against me to make the pain go away but as soon as he realized I was there he pretended nothing was happening. I stepped closer to him but he immediately walked out of the kitchen. I knew I shouldn't ask him what was wrong even if I was dying to know. I figured it might have something to do with his father since he never talked about that but I decided not to talk about it until he opened up.

I looked around the apartment one last time to make sure I wasn't forgetting to pack anything. As I finished my last check I heard a knock and opened the door to a beautiful smiling Alexander.

He kissed my lips softly, "you ready to go?"

I gently kissed him back and nodded, "yeah babe everything is packed"

"Awesome, let me put your things in the car and we can go."

He grabbed my suitcase and I grabbed my purse then placed everything in the car. My parents were happy that I finally found someone that I loved and that loved me and were dying to meet him. At least that was what they said on the phone last night when I told them I was headed to Cancun with him.

We were a few minutes away from the airport when I said, "babe?"

"Yes?"

"I spoke with my parents last night, they called because they wanted to talk before I left."

"Yeah? What did they say?"

"They want to meet you. Like soon."

He looked at me then simply stated, "well then I should meet them. Like soon."

I smiled at him and he smiled back.

The plane ride was quite uneventful. Alex promised that it would be the last time he was doing work for the whole duration of the trip. He sent e-mails and left detailed instructions so everything would get done while he was gone and he wouldn't have to come back to a pile of work. On the other hand, I slept the whole way there since I had a difficult time sleeping these last few days worrying about what could have upset him so much.

When we finally made it to the Mexican airport Alex had to wake me up because I was still sleeping.

"You were very tired weren't you?"

"Flights make me sleepy" I said while stretching.

As we headed out of the airport I realized that most of the people were speaking Spanish and that's when I began to wonder how we could communicate since we did not speak Spanish. I was about to ask Alex what we would do when he surprised me by stopping the Rent-a-car shop and renting a car in perfect Spanish. Or at least I thought it was perfect Spanish.

"Since when do you speak Spanish?"

"Since I was born, don't you know my mom is Mexican? I've been bilingual my whole life"

I looked at him completely surprised, "Annabel and William speak Spanish too?"

"Of course, my parents were big on not letting us forget our roots."

He placed our suitcases in the trunk and held the door open for me then got in and started driving to the hotel with the help of the GPS.

"You never fail to surprise me"
