This chapter is dedicated to Talia Archer (TaliaArcher) because even though I've read only little of her works, I love her writing (Will definitely make time to read more. If you want to try something awesome and different then I suggest you check her profile out. Also, she is a featured writer (how cool is that?!?)!!
A/N- Sorry for the not updating the previous Wednesday. I had a writer's block :( (Yep, hateee those)
RECAP- Kevin Barker was arrested for involvement in the bank robbery and shooting of Trevor. Apparently, he was wanted by Interpol. (Lol, talk about a town with zero crime rates. Guess Shim was wrong, it's okay..happens to the best of us.) Pierce wasn't present in the last chapter but if you love him, this one is for you ;).
We are walking, taking the smallest possible steps. It's a way to prolong the walk. After all, we have all the time in the world and absolutely nowhere to be but here.
Eiffel was a beauty, and I expected nothing less from Paris. I voice out my thoughts.
"Eiffel tower is magnificent." My squeal is enough to give away my enthusiasm.
"It's got nothing on you," Trevor smiles at me. "Macaroons?" He extends the box he is carrying towards me. I remove the lid and take a peach colored sweet treat.
"Thank you," I say and dig my teeth in the hard shell. The lose curls of my otherwise neat updo bounce over my face so I suppose it's windy. I can't feel it.
Trevor brushes them away with his fingers and my rosy blush speaks for me.
His eyes hover over mine lovingly before he looks away to extract something from the inside pocket of his tweed jacket.
A lock and a key.
Our lock and key. I can see the words written in big bold handwriting.
Trevor + Shimmer
Eternity
"Oh dear!" I exclaim. "I can't believe that you brought that." I almost drop my macaroon.
"My sweetheart, we're on Pont des Arts , it'll be a shame if we didn't make the most of it." He hands over the box to me so that he can put the lock on the bridge with ease.
I watch him, patiently waiting for him to throw the key in the tranquil blue scintillating water of Siene below.
But he never gets the chance as right then, a hooded figure appears out of nowhere and delivers a painful blow to his face. Trevor stumbles and drops the key, I jump and drop the macaroons.
"Wha-." Another blow.
He falls.
The hooded figure turns to me. His lowered head makes it impossible to distinguish his face.
"Who are you?" My voice trembles.
I hear a laugh so terrible that it makes every hair on my body stand up. He lifts his head and lowers his hood.
Kevin Barker.
Without a word, he turns and kicks Trevor with the metallic heel of his boot. Trevor wriggles in pain.
"STOP!" I scream.
"What are you doing?"
Kick. Scream.
"STOP!" I'm crying, I'm begging.
"Shimmer," Trevor's voice is weak and strained, like he has been carrying a grief too profound to put into words. "I'm in trouble," he says without looking at me. His eyes are squeezed shut.
