RECAP- We met the quirky Magby's in the previous chapter and they did throw a little shade on Pierce's life. Who is missing Parker btw? Sorry he is not in this chapter but we are about to meet two new people!! So get ready, let's goooo........
"Walking through my dreams
And you've never felt so real
Tasting the honey of your lips
My love, now this is unreal"
Jeremy sings the verse to me for the twentieth time, changing the tune.
"I think this one is the best," he says- less to me, more to his guitar.
"You said that about the previous one," I quip.
"And the one before that," Randyll laughs.
"Enough with the banter," Jeremy sighs. "None of you has been helpful yet."
"You don't seem to like our suggestions," I blow a raspberry. "It's a really good song."
"Maybe it is good," he says thoughtfully. "But something is missing...it's..well I don't know how to explain it. But the..the spark..the magic...it's just not there."
" I like it. I don't think anything is missing. Your audience will love it," I encourage.
"He is right," Randyll speaks. "The audience might love it in the momement but we'll need more than that if we want them to remember it."
"More than what?"
They take a deep sigh, both of them at loss of ideas.
"My boy Pierce has been awfully quite," Randyll points out. "Maybe he has something in his mind," he says, turning to Pierce.
I turn my head to watch him too. He seems to be peering at nothing in particular. He whips his head all of a sudden and you'd have to be blind to miss the brilliant smile plastered across his face.
"First off, I'm right here Dyl, don't refer to me as a third person, you know I hate it man and second- Yes! I know what is missing," his eyes hold a gleam that I want to stare at forever, but then I have to look away lest he finds me staring although it hardly appears wrong.
"Shimmer!" He chirps excitedly.
Confused, I have to look up again and again be fixated by that gleam. That damned gleam.
'Unreal. Unreal. Unreal.' I repeat the title of the song that Jeremy had been singing since the morning. 'This is all unreal, don't chase it.'
"Yeah?" My voice is too small, too unsure. In an instant I'm sure that I would hate the idea in Pierce's head even though I haven't heard it yet.
"Could you sing the lines please?" The softness in his voice, on his face in his heart, everywhere- reminds me of a silver moon in a distant land and how beautiful it is.
I don't respond because how can I say no to the silver moon and it's light which gives hope to the Earth and how can I say yes when my heart is too scared?
"Please?" He says after a while and I know I have to- for that gleam.
"When I close my eyes, it's all a game
