Charlie
"What the hell, dad?" I burst through the back doors of a candy shop called Sweet Tooth, my favorite in town.
"Nice to see you too, sweetie." My father replied with a sweet smile whilst I growled at him.
"Too bad I can't say the same regarding you. What on Earth was so important that you had to take me out of school?" I asked and continued, "I was about to start beating the crap out of people in dodgeball!"
"The boss wants to see you." He explained.
"What? Why? Last time he saw me was because I didn't follow through with the plan, which in my defense wasn't working. We almost lost to agents! I haven't done anything since. I've been good these past two weeks. What does he want?" I questioned, really worried yet at the same time annoyed.
"I don't know. I guess we'll have to wait and see." With that, the conversation was silent the rest of the way to the boss's office.
Allow me to explain. My name is Charlie Brett, Charlotte to be exact. I'm an agent or a spy, call it what you please. I work for the most ruthless company in the history of ruthless companies, DIM. We kill people when we don't get what we want, but I do it for fun. I've gotta say, I'm pretty damn good at what I do.
You must be wondering why I would want to work at a place like this. Well, truth is, I don't really have an answer other than my family working here and that I love danger. It's just a rush of adrenaline, a feeling that I love and never wan't to let go. Plus, every job has it's perks. This one has a whole lot of action with cool weapons and gadgets.
The only down side to this is that it's top secret. Nobody knows. Not even my best friend, April. I trust her with my life, but I can't tell her about this.
We go inside the two big silver doors and I exploded talking really fast, "Listen, Big Guy! I haven't done anything wrong so I don't know why I'm here. Whatever is going on I had nothing to-" In the middle of my talking, I get cut off.
"CHARLOTTE!" The man screamed, clearly not wanting to hear another word coming out of my mouth scaring the living crap out of me. "You aren't in trouble, yet."
"Oh, okay. With all do respect sir, please call me Charlie. Charlotte is kind of mom's way of- Never mind. Why exactly am I here then?" I asked surprisingly calm.
"We have a new recruit coming in today. He's a transfer from one of our smaller establishments." He replied.
"Sorry, but I'm not sure I'm following. What does that have to do with me?" I once again ask.
"I want you to show him around the place and where he'll be working."
"You what?" I asked the man in shock, surprised and pissed. "So you're telling me I got pulled out of school to be a tour guide?" He nods, "Listen, buddy. I'm not really the best person to do this, so if you could just excuse me I will be on my way back to school. See you at home, dad!"
I turned around heading for the exit but get called by full name, "Charlotte Elizabeth Brett," Man I hate getting called that. It always led to the same way. I was either already in trouble or about to be. "You walk out that door you will be out for two weeks and so grounded when you get home." My dad finished his sentence. I turned back quick and start walking back to them both sighing when I finally get to them.
"This is Andrew Hawkins." A nerdy looking boy around my age came out of a corner. I'm surprised at myself because I hadn't seen him, which is really weird in my case since I always notice everything at first sight, "He is sixteen and I thought that you would be the perfect person to give him the tour since you're about the same age."
"Hi." He says extending his arm out. He had big geeky glasses and was really tall. He looked like a good guy. He didn't seem like the type of person that would work here, but then again neither do I.
I shake his hand and say, "Hey. Welcome to DIM. I'm Charl-" Dave, my boss, and my dad coughed interrupting and I knew exactly what they meant. "Charlotte. My friends call me Charlie. Nice to meet you. Want to get this tour thing started?" He nods and we leave the room.
As we walk through the corridors I decide that since I'm the tour guide, I should get to know him better.
"So what's you're department? We can start there first and you can get settled, letting go of everything you're carrying. Want me to help you with those?" I asked gesturing to bags he was holding.
"Yes, thank you. I'm from the C.C. area." He responds giving me some of his things.
"The what?"
"The Cyber Criminals department."
"You mean The Brain Lab. You see, here, we don't take everything to seriously; unless of course a superior or is around."
"Clever. Who gave it that name?"
"Alex. She works in your department too. We can meet her now if you want."
He nods and we continue our journey. As we entered, I could see Andrew with his mouth fully opened from the corner of my eye. He was amazed at the sight. He looked really happy and excited. You could tell he couldn't wait to start which is understandable since he's from a smaller establishment.
"Like what you see?" I asked him with a chuckle at the end.
"Uh... Hell yeah! This looks awesome! It's so big, so many people..." He gets lost in his thoughts.
"Nerd." I tell him and he looked at me with a dull facial expression that screamed: Seriously? "I'm just kidding, go ahead. That empty station right there its all yours now." I let him know giving him his bags. Then he ran off and left me alone, and I went over to Alex.
Alex was one of the best people ever. She was really nice and really smart. She had short hair; dyed black and blue. In my opinion it looked awesome. Also one of the best hackers to ever be alive. She really was great. Such a shame what happend to her... But more on that later.
"Hello, geek!" I jumped in front of her computer interrupting what she was doing.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. No time for cheeky nicknames. We have a serious problem. Somebody has hacked into your private information, someone from LIT." She replied completely changing my mood.
"What? When? Where? Who?" I start shooting with questions, "Did you run facial recognition from their camera, catch anything from their data, passwords, e-mails, messages, pictures or at least a name? Anything at all I can work with?"
"Yeah. I got a full name, Malcom Robertson. Some pictures, that will be sent to you in a few hours. Some things he plans on doing throughout the week, which will also be sent to you soon. By the way, he didn't get much on you. I created one of the strongest firewalls for the young ones. He was only able to get height, gender, age and where you go to school." She says.
"So they'll most definitely be sending an undercover student looking for me. Man, this guy's good."
"He is, but I'm better. I got a few things on one of their agents. Here's the file." She said giving it to me.
I ripped open the file right there and it read:
Gender: F
Age: 16
Height: 5.4'
Agent num.: 0128"This agent attends your school. Find her and eliminate her." Was the last thing Alex said to me that afternoon.
