My name is Aroura. Before everything happened I was normal. For the most part as least. I'm almost 20. I had a normal family and lots of friends.

I remember the day before everything changed. I woke up and mom was watching the news. The camera man was showing videos of this new group. I paid no attention to it. I just went to the kitchen to get coa coa puffs. I sat down with mom and asked her what's new. She looked at me and pointed to the T.V. I had looked up and I read what was on the screen. I didn't know what to say. So I finished my food and took my bowl to the sink.

My hair looked like shit. So I went and took a shower. I had a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach that something was going to happen. When I got out of the shower, my girlfriend Beth was sitting on my bed. Her favorite spot in the house.

Beth is my girlfriend. We have been together sense high school. She came over to me and kissed me. I remember she and I loved to go to our favorite place, the playground at the beach.

The weird feeling came back when we kissed. I had this weird idea to turn on the T.V. It wasn't my idea. But I went and turned on the Tv and it was already on the news. They were still showing the group but they were doing something. Well not really doing something but showing the world something on a Tv they had.

I didn't really understand. It seemed to be something weird. I don't remember much about the Tv though. But I got bord of watching it. I went to turn it off when Beth told me that her mom had gotten the pills they were showing. I remember that I got worried about her. I didn't have a good feeling about the pills. The way the people talked about them. Now I see what they do. I'm so glad I didn't take them when my mom told me to. The results are bad. I remember that my mom had called us down to talk to us. I didn't think anything of it but when we got down there I saw a change in her. Something was very wrong. I had asked her if she was OK but she ignored my question and looked at Beth. The way she looked at her scared me. Mom told us that she was going to the store to pick up more of her meds. I thought nothing of it. This was normal. She ran out every 2 weeks. I could tell something was very wrong though. To this day I can still see the look she gave Beth and it still scares me.

Beth being the more norotic person between the two of us got an idea to explore outside, took ,y hand and pulled me out the door. I don't remember if she realized what was happening to the world. But when we got out the door, the air was different. It wasn't choking but it smelled weird. We started walking down the road looking for something to do. If I remember right it was a weekend and there wasn't much to do. I also remember hearing an explosion something from one of the main roads. After that smoke started raising from the explosion.

Beth looked at me and told me that we were going to see what happened. She pulled me along and when we got there the air had gotten smoky and hard to see through. But Beth didn't stop. She kept pulling. I heard her say something under her breath. Then she stopped and let go of my hand. I tried opening my eyes but when I did my eyes started burning. So something that had chemicals must have been released when the explosion happened.

Beth told me to open my eyes. I was afraid that the smoke would burn my eyes again. Beth took my hand and squeezed it, it gave me hope and reasurence that every thing would be alright. I loved her. I opened my eyes and the smoke was gone. The air was still hard to breath but at least I could see. The sky looked normal. I couldn't figure out what had caused the explosion. Maybe it was the heat. But something still didn't seem right. I walked over to the gas station across the street. I wanted to make sure no one had gotten hurt. I went in and the store man looked to be OK. I went over to him and asked if he knew what was going on. He looked at me with a confused look like he didn't understand what I was saying. He was staring at me so I waved my hand in his face to get his attention.

I felt my phone go off in my pocket. I pulled it out and it was my dad. He was calling from his work, which is weird because he never called me from his work phone. I answered and he started talking really fast. I told him to slow down, then Beth walked over to me and took my phone. She and my mom were the only ones that could understand my dad. Finally after 10 minutes Bethie handed my phone back. She explained that the group on the news came to his shop and talked to them. And just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, they did. Two police men walk in with guns drawin and yelled " every one freez!" Bethie starts laughing so hard because the one that said that was my older brother. I looked at my brother and he was missing his uniform pants. He had every thing else on but his pants. So I could understand why Bethie was laughing. It was really funny. So I walked over to my brother and automatically I could smell the alcohol on his breath. It made me want to gag. I looked in his eyes and told him " your pants are missing." I don't think he cared because he tried to walk to the man at the counter. I had a feeling he was only here to get more beer. I pulled him back to the car outside. It was easy because he had no sense of balanced. Beth was behind me with the other guy. My brother being drunk was normal any more. He's my half brother and sense our mom and his dad split up things for him just got worse and so did his drinking. I want him to get help but he wont listen to me.

Beth came around to where I was and took my hand. She could tell I was sad. I looked at her and a tear started coming out of my eye. She pulled me closer to her and kissed me. She told me that he will get help soon. I looked at her and gave her a kiss. Then I took out my phone and called mom. She told me to just leave them there and come home. It was starting to get dark anyways.

We got home and mom had dinner ready. She had the table set and told us that we were just waiting for dad to get home. But I noticed that mom had put a cup of water at every plate and a small dish that had two pills in each. I remember that they were white and reminded me of horse pills. These pills were huge! I asked mom what they were and she told me that they were new vitamins that just came out. I knew better and had remembered seeing them on the news this morning. I turned to Beth and quietly told her not to take them. Beth knew that I was not joking.

Dad came home then and we sat down to eat. Dad talked about the meeting with the new group. He told us that there were body guards with the man that was there. He said that there will be new rules we will have to obey. If we didn't then there will be punishments that will be in forced. I was worried about the world changing, I didn't think it wouldn't change this bad though.

I watched as mom and dad both took the pills. When we were finished with dinner I could already see the change in them and I didn't like it. I didn't know what they were suppose to do then. But already they were acting so different. It's like they didn't care. Normally they would be worried that my brother hasn't called yet. I noticed this when I called her today too. So I think she took them then too.

Me and Beth went to my room for a while. I knew she had to leave soon because Saturdays are her family days. So we stayed and watched movies until she had to leave. It wasn't til about 9 that mom called her down to leave. I stayed in my room the rest of the night. I remember writing in my journal that night. Everything was so strange that day. The world has changed, and not for the best.
