Chapter 11

I am awaken from my peaceful sleep by someone jumping on my bed either purposely trying to annoy me or wake me up. I'm pretty sure it's the second option. "What could you possibly want this early in the morning!", I said screaming and putting the pillow over my head.

"Clare told me to come  and wake you up because those couples will be here any minute.", Abby said excitedly. I mentally groaned as I lazily got up and out of my warm comfortable bed. I quickly went to get some clothes and headed towards the shower. Before I got in the shower, I grabbed the radio from the desk. I plugged in the radio and started blasting Collide With Sky by Pierce The Veil.

After taking my shower, I got ready and headed down stairs. As I was heading down the stair case, I heard Abby talking to someone with a familiar voice. It couldn't be.

"Zach what are you doing here?!", I asked running into his arms clearly surprised.

"Maddie I've missed you. I haven't seen you around the bakery anymore.", he said with his neck nuzzled in my neck.

"I've missed you to, but what are you doing here?", I asked him as he realised from his grasp.

"Well I got kind of worried about you, because it's just not like you to not show up at the bakery.", he explained.

Zach has been one of best friends after the accident with my mum and step dad happened. I would always go to a Bakery where he worked at whenever I felt depressed. One day when I stopped by the bakery I went in without realizing I was crying. That's when I saw Zach  walking toward me with a look of concern written on his face. I quickly looked away when his eyes landed on my, and just put my face in my hands and started sobbing. I remember feeling him wraping his arms around me, and just letting him hug me. After I was calmed down he asked "Would you like to talk about it?", and I just nodded. I remember just spending my whole day there just talking out my problems and getting to know him better.

Ever since, we have been the best of friends.

"Well it's very sweet of you to come and check up on me, but you shouldn't be worried about me I can take care of myself, you should worry about yourself.", I said to him. "I've just even busy.", I said reasurring him.

When I said that I heard Clare calling us to her office. "I'll be back. You can go and hang out in mine and Abbys' room.", I said while heading toward Clares office. He askedtook off with a nod.

"Ok girls, I want you one of you to go get the other girls from upstairs and tell them that the couples will be here any minute. And I mean like literally any minute.", said Clare. I really didn't want to go and tell the girls, seeming that they bully me and I don't want to get in any problems right now so I just headed to my room.

When I walked in, I saw Zach sitting on the bed and on his phone. "People are goning to be here soon to come and see if they would want to adopt us.", I explained to him. "Well then I should just go since your probably going to be busy.", he said already getting up. "No don't leave, please. You can just wait here in my room.", I said grabbing his arm.

"It's I have to go since anyways. I have shift to fill in. One of the workers called in sick so I'll be on my way.",  he said while opening the door. "I'll walk you out then.", I said.

As Zach and I made our way back down the staircase could already see and hear the other girls talking with some young couples.

"Hey so can I go and visit you tommorow at work, or will you be busy?", I asked. "I don't think I'll be to busy, so yeah you can come and visit. After my shift is done we can go to my flat and just hang out maybe play some video games.", he said while scratching his neck.

"Cool. Can Abby maybe tag along with us?"  "Yeah sure I don't mind.", he said. "Did you walk home?", I asked as we were making our way towards the door. "Yea, but it was only a thirty minute walk. Not really that far.", he said.  "Zach a thirty minute walk is not 'really that far'. It is far. Let me walk you.", I said. "No you have people to see and that are probably looking for someone like you.", he said. "Seriously, Zach no one here cares for me only Clare, Abby, and you.", I said. "Fine whatever", said Zach.

"We care for you.", a familiar voice said. I gasped and quickly turned around.
