"You know you've spent most of the time in my presence either asleep or yelling at me." Said the gravelled voice beside me as i opened my eyes and they came back into focus.

"Must be your sparkling personality." I responded sarcastically as I attempted to stretch.

"Ouch." Laughed Killian.

I looked out of the window and all there was to see for miles around were fields and the occasional farmhouse. We were in the middle of nowhere.

"How long have I been out?" I asked.

"About 4 hours. You fell asleep pretty quick after we left." He replied.

"Sorry ." I said.

"No problem. There's a place to stop up ahead if you need the bathroom." He told me. I nodded and tried to stretch again. I never knew how uncomfortable the passenger seat in my car was.

Sure enough a few minutes later we pull up to a gas station and diner. No sooner had the car stopped, I jumped out and moaned as I stretched my body toward the sky. As my body came back down I noticed Killian looking at me.

"What?" I asked.

"Did you enjoy that?" He asked with a smirk.

"Hey you have no idea how uncomfortable the passenger side is." I complained.

"Try being the 6'3 driver." Good point.

"You want me drive next? Give you a break?." I offered.

"Nah, I got it sugar, don't worry." He said with a smile. He seemed so calm; so normal. I on the other hand was still suffering inside with anxiety. I guess he has the advantage of being through this before. I've never been the type of person that needed to always be in control but knowing that I had zero control over this whole thing was hard.

I made my way to the bathroom to fix myself up. I looked into the dirty mirror above the sinks and stared at myself for a moment.

"What the hell have I gotten myself in to?" I asked my reflection. She stared back at me not knowing how to answer the question. I moistened a paper towel and removed the smudged mascara from under my eyes then tied my hair up into a top knot, before using the toilet. As I left the cubicle and washed my hands, I gave myself a quick once over in the mirror and took a deep breath before leaving.

I walked towards my car and Killian was leaning against it with 2 coffees in his hands. He had a smile on his face that reminded me of his moms and i couldn't help but return it. He had changed from his leather jacket into a dark grey hoodie and he still looked just as gorgeous. As i made it to him he held out one of the coffees to me.

"Oh god yes please! Thank you!" I said, opening the door and getting in. Killian did the same and we got back on the road. I snuggled as best I could into the seat and enjoyed my coffee.

"Any idea where were headed?"

"Elton county." He replied as if it was the world's most obvious answer.

"Uh.. wanna give me more specifics?" I asked. "Where is that?"

"Its a small town about 800 miles away where there's a safe house we can stay in."

"A safe house?" Are we in that much danger?

"I figured we can stay on the road for a couple more hours then we'll stop at a motel for the night and carry on driving in the morning." He explained.

"Right." I said putting my head in my hands, trying to make some kind of sense of all of this.

"You okay?" He asked.
