Xavier's pace was full of unease, he strolled toward the witch who always had her hood up even at times when the ones she conversed with needed a glance at her face. She walked with the grace of a Queen, a facade that she his under to make her thoughts secluded.

Xavier grabbed the shoulder of the young witch, spinning her around to face him. He stared at her a while, accessing her from her pitch black locks of hair to her bright eyes, he was getting distracted and he needed to tell her the gathered information his guards had come across.

"They have made move for the blood witches, they have the upper hand, numbers. It is almost a certainty that they will triumph over them".

" That is not possible, how can you say that?, they cannot win, the witches will see them coming a mile away, they have to be filled with drums of ignorance to not take that into consideration".

Xavier looked out into the air as if the solution to their problems hung still there.

"Triumph has become a quality of the wolves since they started a species war, have you taken numbers?, done a head count?"

"No, what has that got to do with any of this?!!"

"Report back to me when you have made clear your numbers".

Maura watched his retreating figure, she could not let this rest, she made nothing of what he spoke about, he was beating around her question.

" Be clear in your words!!, I cannot make any sense from what you are saying and you tell me to take numbers, does that strike you as a reasonable thing to utter at these times?!!"

"You will not speak to me like that!!, have you no sense. Openly disregarding me without an ounce of fear, you will not disrespect me, not on my soil!!, The Alpha who orchestrates this madness may not be working alone. Do exactly as I tell you".

Xavier turned to leave once more but the ever so inquisitive woman was not having any of that

" And what does that mean?, that one of us is working with him, have you gone mad?, have you finally lost it or are you just trying to be a source of rile-"

"Every chain has a weak link Maura!!, take a head count and just do as you are told!!".

" Raelyn!!, where are you?. Raelyn".

"What's causing all the ruckus?, Maura, you are shouting". Hevea said as she came emerged from one of the many rooms in the hallway.

"I cannot find Raelyn, I am taking numbers and she is the only one missing. Raelyn!!". I called out as I paraded the halls looking for her.

" Have you set eyes on her since we arrived". I asked Hevea who struggled to match my pace.

"No, I didn't even at the living arrangements".

" No, it cannot be her, he cannot use her. Inform the rest!!, search this palace, to to bottom!". Hevea paused looking at her as if she had grown a second head.

"Care to explain who cannot use who?"

"Jerome cannot have my sister, we cannot have left her there. She is easily manipulated and he can use her. Word has it that they moved for the blood witches and they may not see them coming if he is using her, please alert the others".

My eyes welled up with unshed tears that threatened to spill. A look of pity crossed her features.

" I'll alert Julian so that the guards will aid us in our search, do not shed a single tear".
Hevea reassured. She pulled me into an embrace that made me feel as if all would be fine.

I departed from her and made my way to the Vampire king's office, his hair was pulled back and tied with a band revealing his features. He looked up and stared at me with his silver eyes expectingly.

"My sister is missing, we are tied by blood. She cannot be one of them, tell me you will get her back. I cannot let her be used by those mongrels, she is far to special for such evil, they will use her against her own".

His silence told me everything I needed to know. He cannot protect us, my people, my family.

" My people are the only channel that can help you escape extinction and you cannot protect us".

" No one said I couldn't protect you, you think irrationally, as though you have no iota of common sense. They would be expecting another attack and if we go now they will be prepared-"

"But one of you equals five of them, it is indeed a fair fight and if they outnumber you we can help".

" No, you and your people will stay here, this is your fortress of safety, we will not move for battle, this is the only place that I can guarantee you safety, we will find another way".

"There is no other way, you are sending my sister to her death, she will die, Aurora will kill her for betraying her blood!!, you have to understand".

" You are dismissed"

"You cannot do that, I am not of your kind, maybe I should have gone to Julian instead, he seems to be more of a king than you are".

In an unearthly speed he was in front of me, he ceased my neck in his grasp as his eyes grew darker. He bared his fangs and drew back ready to strike.

" Traped morf em". I chanted as his body connected with the nearest wall, he regained footing and dusted off as he stalked toward me once more.

"You think he is a better king?, fine but remember, I saved your people, I sit on the throne, not him. Leave then".

He drew closer and closer till his lips were at my ear as he whispered words that made me conjure hate for him.

" I Owe You Nothing. You can go and seek help from Julian. He still needs to go on my consent. I will not help you waste your time".
