After 2 miles of running. Conner stopped to take a breath. He turned around to see if they where following them. He saw no one. He looked over to see is Angle and Maddie was ok.
"I know a place we can stay at," said Conner trying to gasp for breath. Conner started to walk over pieces of building and glass. Angle grabed Maddies hand and started to follow him. After another mile of walking Maddie started to walk very slow.
"Would you like a pigy back ride," asked Conner to Maddie. Maddie nodded her head. After a minite on Conner's back she was down for the count. Right before sunset they come upon a den like thing made out of pieces of building. In that den was a little boy sitting by the fire.Angle started to climbing a 14 feet piler.As she looked down it was about 35 feet down to certen death. Half way to the den. Angle triped over a long piece of wire. She feel off. Hanging on to the piler by just a few fingers.She yelled," Conner!" Conner looked over to see Angle.He set Maddie down and ran over to help her.
" Hold on," yelled Conner as he pulled her up. She ran to the other side and hugged Maddie.Conner said," Just in the den." They walked over there to see a boy about 10 years old. "This is Champ Nielson," said Conner.
"Welcome to the Empire State Building or whats left of it," said Champ
"Wow," said Maddie.
"You most be the famoas Angle Holmes," Champ said as he kissed her hand.
"Yes but im not famoas,"said Angle.
"Conner talkes about you like crazy," said Champ as he looked at Conner.
