CARTER'S POV
I went home while Kenna & Rhia were at the hospital watching Kai so I could shower. I got out the shower & put on a blue Nike shirt & some black shorts with my Nike slides. I was headed back out the door when my phone rang so I paused & answered it.
Ma: Sorry we didn't pick up the first time you called baby we were doing something for work, is everything ok?
Me: Nahh ma, it's some crazy stuff that's been happening around here, somebody is trying to hurt Kai, it's so crazy cuz first somebody tried to hit her in a black BMW then, you know somebody threw a rock in the window at the house & now somebody snuck her & beat her up, She's in the hospital right now in a coma & the doctor was trying to take her off life support so I need you & dad to find out who's behind this, & fast.
Dad: Hell nah, not my sweet girl Kai. That's so crazy son, I'm sorry to hear that, you already know ya pops on the muthafucking case mane.
Me: Pops you crazy man & yeah I know you down.
Ma: You know we will have this figured out in no time, but in the meantime always make sure someone is with Kai, mainly you. Kiss baby girl on the forehead for us & we will definitely find out who did this, don't you worry we got you baby
Me: Alright, thanks ma I'm about to head back over to the hospital now.
Ma: Alright baby, & we'll have agents covering the hospital, because danger is everywhere & we don't know how close the person actually is to Kai so we have to watch every body, but I'm gone let you head back over there, we miss & love you baby, talk to you later.
Me: Cool & I miss & love y'all too.

I finally made it back to the hospital & Rhia & Kenna were painting Kai's toes. "Why the hell y'all painting her toes?" I asked. "When she wakes up she's gonna be flawless." Rhia said. I just laughed & sat down. I look out the window & look at sky. "God please wake her up soon, I really need her. I think she's the girl I want to marry, please don't take the best thing that's ever happened to me away, & God please reveal to us who did this, in Jesus name I pray, Amen. "Why you over there with your eyes closed?" Kenna asked. "Just praying for my baby." I said. "Awww that's so sweet Carter, she's gonna wake up soon." Rhia said smiling. "I sure do hope so." I said.
The door opened & it was mama Toya, she had just got off work. "Hay babies, how is my baby girl doing?" she asked walking over kissing her forehead. "She's still the same mama T." Kenna said. "Alright well, I'm about to clean a little y'all watch out." Mama T. said. She had brought a broom & dust pan & Lysol wipes. "Mama T, the nurse comes in & cleans." Rhia said giggling. "Girl I know, but I just would feel better cleaning up." Mama T. said giggling too. She wiped everything clean & lit a candle. "I lit the candle cause Kai loves candles, Carter come hold this dust pan for me." She said while sweeping the dirt in the dust pan.
After she finished cleaning we all sat around & start talking, we didn't even realize it was getting late so Rhia & Kenna headed home. "You can go home if you want Carter, I know you're probably tired of being in this room every night." Mama T. said. "I'm good ma, I think it's best for me to stay here." I said without telling her what my mother had told me earlier. "Ok, suit yourself, I'm about to head home & do some paperwork for work in the morning, I really appreciate you being here by Kai's side, not too many people would stay here night after night, you are truly a blessing from God." Mama T. said hugging me. She left & it was just Kai & I alone.
I turned the tv on & starting watching ESPN, hours passed & I wasn't sleepy at all so I decided to do some push-ups on the floor, then I heard the door easing open, "Somebody there?" I said. The door quickly closed. I ran to the door, but it was no one in sight, until a nurse came from around the corner, "Hey, did u see anybody go around the corner?" I asked. "No, sir I have not." The nurse said walking away. Damn, I wonder who the fuck that was... I gotta stay here with Kai at all times, this shit getting out of hand.
3 WEEKS LATER
Carter's Mom: Hay, baby I was calling to let you know, that the person that was driving the black BMW was a guy by the name of Jaxon Williams. He also was the one that threw the rock inside the window, & was the one who had the little fight with Kai at the restaurant. The only thing is, we can't find anything connecting him to Kai so he has to be working for somebody. He doesn't have a real job, kids, or a girlfriend so we are going to kidnap him tonight, & going to keep him until the person calls or until they start trying to do the dirty work on their own.
Carter: Thanks ma, y'all are legit as fu-, I mean y'all legit as freak.
Mom: Boy, watch your mouth & hell yea, you know we got you hunny, just keep your eyes on Kai. It's just a matter of time before the person reveals who they are.
Carter: Sorry ma, & you already know I'm not taking my eyes off her.
Dad: Son I hope you doing all the right things & acting like the young man we raised you to be.
Carter: Definitely dad, you already know I'm always on my best behavior.
Dad: Good, cause I don't want you out here in these damn streets like these wanna be thugs. Know I'll hunt ya ass down!!
Carter: Mannn, dad chill I already know, you ain't gotta say that every time we talk.
Dad: I just wanna make sure you know, because it's too-
Mom: Don't mind ya daddy, you already know he gotta preach about the streets & being a thug alllllll the time.
Carter: Yea ma, I know.
Mom: Alright son, well we about to get ready to catch this bastard, & we will probably get back to you in a few days. I love you!!
Carter: I love you too mama.
Dad: Son, don't be out there thugging in up in them streets.
Carter: Yes sir

Man my dad be having me dead as fuck, I be low key wanna laugh out loud, but I know he serious & only telling me that for a good reason, I ain't gone lie I have thought about being in a gang a few times but let's get real, don't nobody love you in these streets & that's not a good way to live, that's just asking to be in jail or in a grave, & I'm too smart for that dumb ass gang shit. I be damned if I end up with a record & then can't get a good paying job in future. Them idiots can have that hood shit, it's not a lifestyle I wanna live. I just hope Kai wakes up soon, I miss her voice.
