The Magic Revival

Earth in the year 3027.

So I'm pretty badass, I'm an elf. Unfortunately, humans don't see me that way, but it is what it is.

Oh by the way I'm not some short little shit that makes presents for Santa. Santa is real though. Pretty chill dude. His wife makes bomb ass cookies.

I'm actually like 6 foot 2 inches.

Oh yeah, I guess I should tell you. Magical creatures exist. Humans know this.

So basically I guess I should explain the last 1000 years of history.

The year 2100, was WWIII. This has also been called the War of Hell, the War of Unity, and the War to Truly End all Wars . To be honest, no one knows what started it. Humans were frantic and desperate to stop their own demise. Global warming was out of control. Natural resources were greatly depleted. And a giant nuclear war broke out. The war lasted 50 years. 1/5 of the World's population would parish, and another 2/5, would parish a century following due to the aftermath. Before WWIII, the world population would be at roughly 9 billion. In 2300, the population was just slightly over 5 billion. The human life span went from 80 years old to 50 years old.

In 2350, the remaining nations of the world would all meet. They decided they must all come together to fix the world, and work together in harmony. They decided on that day, they would no longer act as independent countries, but members of the world. They formed the Republic of Earth. All countries would now become provinces in the world government, each province with its own governor. They agreed to end all crimes against humanity, all wars, and all prejudices. They all came up with plans on how to end the ecological disasters left by the War of Hell.

They set up the World Capitol inside the Province of New America, in what used to Washington DC.

And they were successful. The humans worked together. By 2500, they made all technology based off of renewable resources. Everything is infinitely recyclable. Every human on earth was given their own home, complete with electricity, internet, clean water, and AC and heat. Food was shipped world wide to ensure every human had food. No body on earth lives in poverty, and the crime rate was at below .1%.

Humans also made amazing medical advancements. The average human life span expanded to 110 by 2600. The world population has increased back to 8 billion. Cancer has been eliminated. All illnesses have a cure. Scientists have even discovered a way to cure mental illness. The human race was thriving.

And prejudice has gone away as well. All religions live together in harmony. No race is discriminated against. All hate groups were made illegal and any hate related expressions abolished.

The human world had truly reached a utopia.

The magical creatures have always existed. Of course you've heard of us. We used to live in harmony with humans. We even appeared in your stories long ago, which you eventually called "myths" or "legends." We largely went into hiding during the Middle Ages, when humans began to shun us. And we've stayed in hiding ever since.

We have always had a role in the world, however. Some of us continued to live amongst humans, passing as one of them. Some would disguise themselves using magic. Others would physically alter their appearance. I know so many elves who clipped their ears, and their children's ears. Or fairies who severed their wings. God, that shit pains me dude.

But that's why there are humans with spiritual gifts. They practice witch craft, can speak to souls and spiritual entities, and they can see the future amongst other things. They're not completely human. It is likely a human and a magical creature had a child, which is why they possess such a gift.
