Reality is Just a Game

Sparklecake

She stood there. Crossed armed and with a smug look on her face. She had black hair with blue highlights. Her pale skin looked transparent in the sunlight. Her almond-shaped eyes and deep black eyes dug into my soul, in a creepy and bad way. She also dressed in all black, like Blake. She was in a black jumpsuit with a belt and daggers hanging around it. But it wasn't her outfit or eyes that stood out. It was her wings. She was an angel, an angel with a dark heart.

"Hi. I'm Sparklecake," She said, reaching her hand out to shake mine.

"Sparklecake?" I questioned, looking at her appearance once more. There is nothing happy about her appearance. Was it fake or are looks just deceiving?

"Yeah, you can call me Cake if it is easier."

"Okay..."

"Cake is the creator's daughter I was talking about. She is a brilliant hacker with a horrible past," Blake said before Cake punched hardly him in the arm.

"So what happens now?" I asked them.

"We fight," Cake replies, almost happily, in a scary way.

"What she means is that we will participate in the Adventurers Tournament. Its a competition that requires a team of five or more. We are going to fight to get noticed and prove that we are finally worth something," Blake corrected her.

I thought about how everyone would know who I am, as Reise, not the Shadow Knight, and the thought scared me a bit.

We trained day after day. It was mostly Blake and I that trained the this remote part of the woods because Cake had to occationally go back to the real world. This was to make sure people still knew that she was alive, even though many did not care.

Although it took me a while, the realization finally came to me.

"Blake, if the teams require five or more people, who else is going to join us?" I asked while Cake wasn't there.

"Cake knows someone that would be good. We need to search for a new team member soon though," he replies back.

As if on cue, there was a scream for help.
