Chapter 7: Jane

Dwell on the beauty of death and see yourself falling with it.
-me

(Jane's pov)

"Come with me," I called out to the young orphan boy. His brown eyes were overshadowed by his ugly appearance. He wore old tattered clothes, dirt making a thin coating on it. The boy seemed to be frightened and confused so I took his hand and showed him the eternal passage of heaven.

I always felt depressed taking away the souls of these young innocent kids but maybe it was because they reminded me of my younger brother. My younger brother was the most precious part of my life before my death of course.

"Jane have you seen Grim?" asked Raphael, the healing archangel.

"She is on her duty, she will be coming soon,'' I said being uncertain about Grim's affairs. I wasn't even sure whether she was on her duty or not. I was never allowed to ask her questions but I always was willing to give her a helping hand. I always thought that she was too lonely, too deep in her thoughts and too dutiful but I rarely interacted with her even after 77 human years and eternity.

"Oh, tell her that father is calling her," he said holding the book of prophecies in his hand. I nodded and then he went away with the book.

I went to the library filled with people, half of them smiled at me when the saw me and I smiled back getting back to my idle spot getting lost in my thoughts.

Often I would sit here and think about how did I die, what happened to my family and what made me Grim's PA? Not wanting these thoughts and memories to fade away from my mind I kept playing them like a voice recorder but this mind is a forgetful thing, the scenes are not so vivid in my mind but the situations are encrypted in my soul.

I died 77 years ago when my soul left my body. My age was that of a young woman in twenties. I lived with my younger brother in a small hut near the forest and was happily content with my life. Those days the forest management lacked proper technology and there was a huge fire causing my death. Amongst those 71 people I was the only one who could communicate with Grim.

My brother was saved because he was with my fiancé working in a factory. I have not spoken to my brother from ages but I see him everyday with his wife for the past few years. I see him sitting happily from afar, his hair now all turned gray and he has gone taller than earlier having wrinkles on his face but his eyes were still a beautiful shade of brown.

Talking about why I was selected, I am not exactly aware about why I was chosen for such an important role but most part was that Grim could communicate with me through telepathic powers. She could listen to all the thoughts I had stored in my mind and I could speak to her without uttering any words. All I know is that grim was not the original one to cause the death. She wasn't the one to be here from the start, there was someone who she referred to as her godfather but he left her.

"Where is the missing sheet of the prophecy?" Asked a voice from behind me. I turned my head to see what was happening. It was Mikael talking to Raphael in hushed tones. All the six archangels sat together discussing this matter with serious faces a seat still left vacant. Hearing this I rushed to my room trying not to look suspicious as I greeted everyone in the hallway. Finally I reached my room, it wasn't as big as Grim's but it was quite sufficient for me. Hurriedly I opened my drawer searching for the important torn gold paper with ancient writings. It was the missing piece of the prophecy and I stared at this valuable piece of information. It read-

She the cause of destruction,

Also called as an obstruction.
She the harsh truth of reality,
And her presence is vitality.

She is also the reminder of many sins,

Finding the demons hidden under the human skins.
Certainly the end of many,

will not fall for just any.

But once the strongest,
With wings the longest.
Now she'll commit a sin for him.
She is known as the Grim.

Will find the lost sensation of her heart,
She will be torn apart.

Because this time,

It would be much stronger than her mind.

I certainly knew who it referred to. I tore it from the book of prophecies when I first saw it. No one knows about this prophecy not even Grim. I am the only witness of this prophecy and have saved it for a long time and I still intend it to be a secret because if it is true then the consequences wouldn't be good especially after Gabrielle.

I am hoping this prediction will not be true because this would cause a big war between humans and demons, between good and evil causing the destruction of the world. If it is true then I would try my best to prevent it. Suddenly I got a message from Grim.

"Jane I want you to take the souls of people who have met with an accident on St Paula Road."

"Okay, Raphael called you for a meeting I told him you were doing your duty."

"Good I will come."

"But..."

"I will now you GO!"

With that I immediately went to do my work.
