Chapter 4
"Stop looking at me like that." Mel says as she looks down at her feet.
"Then you shouldn't have done that."
I cross my arms and roll my eyes at her.
"Look, I really apologize. I didn't know what to say..." She said, throwing her hands up in defeat.
"Well, you should have come to me before you blurted everything to her."
She looks downcast which is my hint to be gentle now.
"Alright. I won't be mad at you anymore."
Mel, being the good girl told my grandma everything that happened, when she called. Every line. Every point, while I lay on the bed in my room taking rest. Grandma was so worried to death. Since then, she would call every now and then to know if I'm alright. I didn't want to trouble her. Not at this age. I love her so much.
"I promise not to do it again. Since you got me so worried, I couldn't help but tell her about the present situation," She shruggingly said.
"Have you ever had a dream where you're being chased by a dark figure through alleyways and then running into a dead end and being stabbed by him?" I ask.
That did it. She looks hesitant. She will have to understand this.
"Sorry." She finally said. Sadness deep inside.
I walk to her and pull her into a hug.
"I know you are." I whisper.
Everything looks fine, doesn't it? Well, I still didn't overcome with that fear of being stalked. It's been three days since that incident. But the pain inside is still as new as a pin.
I stand bewitched before the exquisite view. It is drenched in the glow of dawn, the blush of the setting sun. The green leaves and the coloured flowers glint in the sun. Visitors flocked to see the wondrous Lake. The view is unmatched in beauty.
Mel has been trying not to talk about it, which I really appreciate. Mr and Mrs Martin are very caring. They often visit us to check on me. Grandma Elza is too hyped. Aunt Sandra is on a vacation with Uncle Wallen and their twin daughters, Maglin and Cullen. Thankfully, she doesn't know about this yet. I wouldn't want to ruin their perfect time.

I'm in front of the mirror, trying to look at myself, as Mel gives me a makeover. She's blocking the view. So I stay still and let her do my makeup. I look at her. Her hairs are curled up in a stylish bun. She looks beautiful in her knee length silver shimmering dress clinging to her. Her heels, not too high, are perfect.
"You're looking gorgeous, Mel." I say.
Her face lit up and she warmly smiles.
My makeup is almost done. She's giving the final touches.
"Discover yourself, Ash." She says as she finally moves away and I see myself in the mirror propped against the wall.
"Not bad."
"Beautiful yet elegant. And "all you said was 'not bad'?" She asks.
"I feel so uncomfortable. It doesn't even touch my knees. It's too high." I say, pointing at the black dress I'm wearing.
"It's fine, Ash. You look stunning."
"Alright." I sigh.
My hair is tied at the side in a bun.
"We're off!" Mel says in excitement.
We get in the car and Mel starts driving to where Ian's party is being held. Yes, Ian's. He decided to throw a party since he is back. I am excited because we might have a chance of meeting our long-lost high school friends. Ian is being so polite and gentle, which I doubt. Something doesn't make me feel right about him.
