I only packed some things in a bag my favorite blue shirt, a picture of me and my dad, my phone, and my stuffed bear that my grandma bought me on my 16th birthday. I stare at my bed and take a deep breath remembering all the memories of growing up in my room. Walking to the door and closing it slowly, I take a deep breath. Walking down the stairs step by step and throwing my bag over my shoulder, I begin to cry as I walk to the front door. I slowly grab the door handle and closing my eyes, I open the front door and walk out. I walk down the pathway as I begin to walk I stare back at the house glazing at it as if this situation was a dream. Walking to grandma house I go. But to get my mind off this, I wonder if she's baking her famous sweet potato pie. She will be glad to see me I have not talk to her in a week. My grandma is a sweet woman who everyone loves. Her name is Linda but everyone calls her sugar momma because her kisses are as sweet as sugar and she is everyone's mother when your own momma did not want to put up with you. She loves everyone equally and understands people decisions. She is not like any other old typical black grandma. She is open minded and strong spoken.

She tells me "Blake boy you can be anything you want despite your race, sexual preference, or height" She makes fun of how short I am compared to other guy's I am only 5'4 that almost like the height that boy Kevin Hart she says. She is a minster at New Faith Tabernacle Christian Ministries her teachings are based on love, fairness, and god's favors. Her house is beautiful, new, and she loves it. Finally, here though I ring the doorbell, she answers the door with a shock look on her face with a smile

"If it isn't my baby boy Blake what brings you here darling." She stares down at my book bag "you spending the night?" She asked

"No that not it granny, mother found out about me being gay." I said with a sad look on my face

"Oh no baby come in come in tell granny what happen." She said with a sorrow look on her face

I walk in and what do you know she's baking her famous sweet potato pie. I take a big sniff and a soothing gasp as I imagine the taste of her delicious pie.

"Come in the kitchen baby I got some sweet potato that I baked just a few min ago." She said

I grinned and walked towards the kitchen.

"Yes Granny you are slaying down in this kitchen." I said as I snapped my fingers fiercely

She laughed, "Boy you always say the craziest things."

Sit down there at that table and let me cut you a piece of this pie baby.

My mouth watered as I prepared for this delicious pie "Ok" I said excited with a hug smile on my face.

I sat down at table; she sat the plate down so and sat with me.

"Baby I am so sorry that your mother did this to you." She said with a serious look on her face

I looked down slowly at the table "yea it's ok" I said with a sudden sigh.

She rubs my shoulder "so what your plan, what your next move baby?" she asked

"I'm moving in with James to Atlanta." I said gracefully

"Why don't you move in here with grandma?" She said

"I kind of want to get away for a while to clear my head and experience a new place cause Columbus is getting to my head And making me crazy , plus grandma you've been feeling kind of sick lately, so I want Jade to look after you while I'm gone." I said

Jade is my younger sister who is 16, she stays with her dad in Phenix City, Alabama we have two different daddies, Jade's dad is an overall ass in my opinion but he loves Jade and that all that matters.

"Well I guess your right pumpkin." She said as she kissed my cheek and let it out a zerbart.

"Ewww" I said with a smile on my face.

"Are you going to talk to Jade before you leave." she said

"Yes I'll call her later."

"So when is James getting here?" She said with a smile on her face.

"He should be here in a few minutes I called him 2 hours ago he said he'll be here soon." I said

"Ok" she said

The doorbell rings.

"Speaking of being here soon, I'll get it." She said

"Hey James baby" I hear her scream from the front room.

"Hey sugar" I hear him scream.

It's been months since I seen James aka Mother Prodigy, he walked in the kitchen he's still what I remember him as a tall dark skin man, with big lips and that dang gypsy scarf on his head with butch queen clothes, he is serving me Sylvester honey.

"Hey boo" he said as he walked into the kitchen

"Hey gurl" I said as we hugged.

"Go put your stuff in the car ok while I talk to your grandma." he said with a smile on his face

"Ok" I said as I took my things to the car.

"Thank you so much James for doing this." She said as she grabbed his hand

"It's no problem, but Katherine needs to get her priority straight and get over the past of her hatred towards us gay folks." He said angrily

"I know James, I know maybe one day in her heart shell forgive him and forget the past I sure did." She said shaking her head

"He shook his head, I walked back in you ready to go honey." I said excited

"Yes darling, tell your granny bye and that you'll see her later ok." he said

I walked over to granny, I hugged her, I kissed her, I cried with her " I love you granny and you make sure you take it slow and get better and call me and tell me if Jade comes and visit with her trifling mean self." we laughed together

"I will" she said

James and I walked out the door, headed towards the car, and got in.

"You ready?" he asked

"Yes" I said as he cranked up the car

He backed up out the drive way and we waved good-bye to granny as he played Whitney Houston's Greatest Love of All.

As we drove up the road and as I looked back at the fountain-city and all of its memories I will never forget the times I had in this city as we drove many miles up the road we finally arrive close to Atlanta a new chapter of my life.
