At work the next day, Hermione woke up, still obsessing over the strange events of the nights before. She went to her office two house early, and was surprised to actually run into Draco heading to his office area. She ran behind him and covered his eyes, trying to make light of her nasty mood. "Guess who?" She said in a faux gruff voice.

Rather than laugh, Draco said, "Get off me, Granger. I have no interest in talking to you." And with that he left. Inside, he was hating every word, but he needed to add space between them, show Hermione that she deserves better than him.

Scared to look back at her in case she would see his fallen face, he instead walked briskly into the men's bathroom, and he sat on the ground with his head in his hands, hating himself all over again.

Hermione felt as if she had been slapped when she said that. He didn't even look back, so he  must hate her more that she had expected. And she wasn't going to let him go without fixing her friendship first, no matter how she truly feels about him.

She walked into her office first, however, and was pleased to see that Ginny had written to her.

Hermione,

I know you probably do not want to see Ron ever again, I know, I know, but it's my moms birthday tomorrow, and she would love to see you again. You know how hard it's been for her with Fred, and seeing you would cheer her up. Please come by tomorrow for her birthday dinner! Please!!! It starts at 7:30 and Harry will be there too. See you soon (I hope!)

She took out paper from her desk and wrote quickly, wanting to hear back from her before the dinner. She said that she had a date with Ron, that she may be in love with him even after all he has done in the past.

She tells her about the flowers and the apologies, about the kiss and the tingling feeling she gets when she touches him. She sends the note back with the beautiful owl and then takes a seat at her desk.

She works hard all day, this way when she leaves tomorrow for the dinner she will be ahead of schedule with her work. She gets another three bouquets of the most beautiful flowers she had ever seen, including some beautiful turquoise roses, all from Ron with apologies from last night.

She glances at her wristwatch saying 1:00, and as if on cue and owl comes in. It looks like a note from Ginny!

Hermione-

What the hell is going on? Ron has been with his girlfriend everyday! They had to leave again, and this time they are training out near where I am having my practices for Quiditch. Ron, despite his mistakes, comes over daily with Grace, for dinner every day. And I know you may hate me for that, but my mom asked me too, and I love her more than anything. Oh between us, I hate Grace so much. She honestly has no talent, and the only reason she is in Auror training is because her dad is one of the trainers. Otherwise she would be nothing other than a few pretty looks. Who knows what Ron sees in her? But back to your story! How is Ron dating you? It can't be possible, and plus he is stuck to Grace like glue. She never leaves his side. And yesterday night, we all went out for ice cream to celebrate the end of a term for their training, so the only way he could would be if he had a time turner like the one you used to have, and he knows how risky that is! Blimey, Hermione are you alright? Let's meet up tonight and talk about this. I can come to your office at 8 tonight if that works. We need to talk. I'll see you then.

Only 7 hours until Ginny will come. But how is that possible? Ron couldn't possibly have a time turner, since all of them are in the ministry, she had made sure of it when she was working on the three missing wizards case. Plus, she always pays special attention to the time turners after her time at school--she was always weirdly protective of them.

She lightly pounded her head on the table, unable to comprehend everything. When Ginny comes, she needs to talk about the mess with Draco, too. She can't possibly be able to live without his friendship, because he is one of the few she constantly has.

When she had no more ideas as to what was going on, she devoted herself into her work and didn't stop until she heard a knock on the door. She ran to answer it, making a mess of the papers on the desk and opened it to see Ginny.

"Hermione!" She yelled in happiness, coming over to hug her tightly, not letting go for a long moment. When the separated, Ginny looked at her, and a look of pity washed over her.

"Ginny, before you can say anything, yes I have changed my look. And no, I'm not going crazy at all." She knew she was right. How is she ever even wrong? She was as sane as ever.

"Hermione," she started, and she then paused, contemplating her answer, "I believe you, but I can't believe that is all possible. I'm sorry, but it is so unlikely and I just can't ..." She trailed off, not understanding any of this.

"No Ginny, you have to believe me! Look," she started as she handed over the three boutiques of flowers she had received that day. "I got these three today, all of them mentioning the date yesterday when Ron kissed me."

Ginny read them, her eyes widening at the thought of how bizarre this all was as she looked at all three of them. "Hermione, I don't even know what to say! Did Ron do anything weirder than usual? Anything he doesn't usually say?"  Ginny asked, already knowing that there had to be something wrong with all of this!

"You know what? He has actually! For one, he makes me feel differently. Rather than when he used to kiss me, I feel now like I'm actually in love, like my body melts into his. It's amazing. And for some reason he kept going to the bathroom during out date, which was strange. Oh and he seemed to know what was happening between me and Malfoy, I mean Draco, yet he was totally cool with our friendship but not our romance thing, and-" she was suddenly cut off by Ginny.

"What the hell Hermione! You and Malfoy are friends? You call him Draco? How have you been able to have a 'romance' with each other? Why haven't I heard about this?" Ginny was in shock, not mad yet, but obviously hurt Hermione never told her any of this.
