The One?

Chapter 8.

Oli's POV:
This morning I woke up at 8, which meant both my parents had already gone to work. I lay in bed, picked up my phone amd slowly scrolled through my Twitter and Instagram feeds. I sat up and looked in the mirror opposite my bed. My hair was a mess and my eyes were red. I still looked half asleep.

I put my phone on my bedside table and rolled out of bed. I lazily dragged myself into the bathroom where I managed to make my hair look half decent. I splashed a little water on my face to wake myself up. Surprisingly, it worked. I went back into my room and took off my pajamas, replacing them with jeans and white shirt with a picture of drums on it.

After eating a cereal bar for breakfast, I turned on my Xbox and called Lizzie. She was always up by 8, so she must be awake by now.

O: Hello? Lizzie!
Lizzie took a moment to answer.
L: Sorry Oli, what do you need?
O: Just wondering if you want to play some Call of Duty? The new game came out yesterday you know.
L: I know, I already bought it.
O: So wanna play?
L: Oh uh...
Couldn't she just say yes or no? What was up?
O: Well?...
L: I'm playing Halo with another friend at the moment, you can join us if you want.
There was a pause and Lizzie looked away. She smiled before looking back and saying something else.
L: I'm playing with Joel, Oli. Wanna play?

Joel. That name bounced back and forth in my head. Then I remembered. That Year 11 boy that Lizzie has been hanging out with, that was Joel.
She was already playing with him? I felt my body bubbling with anger and jealousy. I really like Lizzie, but I am worried Joel will get her to her first.

O: No thanks
L: Are you sure, it'll b-
I hung up. One thing I remember about Lizzie is she is very good at persuading people to do things. I wasn't going to let that happen today. If she wants Joel for today, she can have him. I'll take my chance to shine another day.
