You and Suga have become friends over the course of the past school year. Though he lacks a bit a of social grace— evidenced by his standoffish attitude, lack of tact, and intimidating stare— you know he's actually a giant smiley dork that loves his friends and gives his all in everything he does. You've also discovered that despite supposedly having a way with words, sometimes his bluntness makes his words come out in a way he doesn't mean.

"Let's go out," he had said as he had his hands crammed into the front pockets of his jeans. You stared at him disbelievingly. "Out to eat. Let's go somewhere."

This would happen every time he invited you to go somewhere. He would say something that anyone else would misinterpret, but you, knowing Suga, always understood what he meant. Or at least, that's what you believed.

Club activities had just ended, and after leaving the gym, you stopped by your school locker to put away a textbook. The halls were empty and the sun was setting, painting the white brick walls in soft orange light. You were squatting on the floor accommodating the binders in your bookbag, and standing beside you was Suga, leaning with his back against the wall and arms crossed over his chest. The slanted light played shadows across his face.

"So how was art club?" You asked just to strike up casual conversation. Suga smiled a bit and extended the back of his hand down to show off the monarch butterfly (that you knew someone else had done fore him) painted on it. It went oddly well with his white Rolling Stones tee and leather jacket.

"Volleyball?" He asked, kicking off the wall as you stood and shut your locker. You gave an exhausted sigh and smiled a bit. It wasn't really an answer, but he seemed to get it. As you walked down the empty hall in comfortable silence, Suga suddenly spoke up again.

"Hey."

"Yeah?"

"Go out with me."

"Okay."

He was quiet for a bit. From the corner of your eye you could see him begin to bounce happily before answering, "Cool. I have to get something. Wait for me at the gate?" You nodded and went your separate ways.

After about fifteen minutes at the school gate, Suga finally came back out. He raised a hand and lightly placed it on your cheek, rubbing his thumb under your eye and staring at you in silence with a soft look on his face. Then he withdrew his hand and began to walk down the sidewalk. Strange.

"So where are we going?" You asked as you caught up with him. He stared at you quizzically with one eyebrow raised. "You... Just invited me out, remember? So where're we going?"

His eyes widened, and he stopped walking. You stopped too. He laughed awkwardly and avoided eye contact, choosing instead to stare down the road. You thought his cheeks were dusted pink, but it might have been a play of the sunlight.

"Actually," he began, "I was asking you to date me."
