Footsteps thudded dully as you and Hoseok walked side by side to the bus stop. The sky was changing colors in waves of murky gray and a heavily saturated blue, but the weather was the last thing on your mind. This was your fifth date. Your knuckles brushed against his as you walked, and you grinned widely when he shook a fist and yelled emphatically to describe how it felt to eat a spoonful of wasabi.

This man, Jung Hoseok, was beautiful. He was perfect. His cheerful eyes, the slope of his nose, his angled jaw that gave way to the tan expanse of his neck— just everything was beautiful. And when he smiled with that heart shaped mouth or laughed that boyish chuckle, it'd stir something in your heart like a little dove fluttering it's wings, and you'd be breathless. A text from him made your chest constrict. Any venture into your personal space ignited a blush on your cheeks. He was hopelessly wonderful to such a degree that it was almost overwhelming.

The plan for today had been to grab the eleven o'clock bus south to the beach, but due to unforeseen circumstances, here you stood at two o'clock, waiting on a bus three hours late. In any other situation you might've been annoyed, but those three hours were spent window shopping with Hobi and fussing over ever-melting popsicles just to kill time. Who could complain about that? You smiled stupidly to yourself as you sat with him on the bench.

A humid breeze wooshed down the street as you chimed in question, "Hey Hobi?" He turned with a soft smile and trained his dusky cocoa eyes on your face as you were suddenly struck with the desire to caress his cheek. "I always have a really nice time with you—" he blinked in surprise, "—thanks for taking me out. I'm really happy." He seemed to stare at your smile, and he opened his mouth but choked on his words.

"M-Me too."

Just as a silent spell descended on you, Hoseok quickly broke it with a voice that tremblingly interjected: "Um actually... I really like being with you too and I thought, well, I was wondering if you'd like to... to go out with me? I mean like to date me y'know. Like of course we could still go out and stuff but this time as a... as a um, like a couple."

His face blazed and his voice shook through his entire spiel, but he tried hard to keep his eyes level with yours. The dove in your heart fluttered wildly, and you imagined your eyes were wide as saucers, so you averted them for a moment before realizing that might discourage him. Biting down on your bottom lip to stop your face-splitting grin, nerves danced down to your fingertips as you wrung your hands and smiled gleefully at Hoseok's focused gaze. You wet your lips— an action that his dark eyes honed in on— and intended to nod, but just like with the eleven o'clock bus, things didn't go according to plan.

Everything around you dimmed and the floodgates of heaven cracked open without any warning. It took a moment to overcome the shock of what had happened, but in a flash Hoseok was on his feet, handing you his phone and peeling off his jacket. Neither had an umbrella since you were supposed to be at the beach by now, so thinking quick, your date flung his jacket over your heads and took off running together the one block back to the mall.

Hobi laughed as you muttered curses. When a puddle soaked your feet you half joked: "I hope you're enjoying this!" The grin never left his face, and despite your surroundings, his body so close to yours made your heart soar.

You huffed as you finally reached the mall, and Hoseok lowered his jacket with a dramatic groan. You beamed sheepishly at each other but all too soon realized the air conditioning on full blast and the wet clothes hanging awkwardly from your limbs.

"Seriously?" You whispered as you wrapped your arms around yourself. Glancing at your date, his teeth were chattering and his body shook slightly, but he still looked cute as ever. He quickly pushed some wet hair off his face and wow never mind who knew a forehead could be so hot.

"You cold?" He asked with a raised brow, sending a spear through your chest once more. Oh god not the eyebrows.

"No, just shivering for the fun of it. What did you think?"

He chuckled and continued to smile with that heart shaped mouth as he drew closer. Taking his jacket, he placed it over you, and although it was still wet, you were admittedly warmer than you were without it.

"Aww," you gushed, "thanks Hobi. That's so gentlemanly—"

"What, you think I'm just gonna give you my jacket and stay out here to freeze?" He tugged at one side. "Move over."

Tightly pressed together as you huddled near the mall's food court, your cheeks tingled and Hoseok tried to keep his wet hair from dripping onto you or tickling you. A nearby clock showed that a bus would be passing in ten minutes; it'd probably be best to ride back home.

"Hey Hobi—"

"So um—"

You interrupted each other. Angling your neck to stare up at him, you became hyper aware of the close proximity. His toned chest pressed flush against your arm, and he was reaching around you to hold the jacket in place. This wasn't your first time hugging him— at the end of your third date, you'd said goodbye with a quick one— but it was your first time so... intimate. His heat bled onto you, and his breaths were distinct on your wet skin. His eyes were half lidded as he gazed down at you, and he still smelled strongly of men's body wash.

You choked.

A droplet cascaded along his nose and stopped at his mouth, holding at the edge before spilling over his pink lip. It might've been your hopeful imagination, but he shifted forward and pressed his body closer into you, sending electricity shooting down to your toes. Suddenly all you could hear was your breathing. All you could feel was the hammering of your heart, his burning skin on yours, and the invisible pull that had you arching closer and closer.

His face was so close that you could see the glassy brown luster of his eyes and black eyelashes that fluttered softly. Your senses were drowning in him, and in your haze, you were aware of a warm pressure on your mouth. Your eyes closed and the dove in your heart exploded into flight as he pressed his lips to yours softly, timidly, but unmistakably sweet. Your chest felt light with air, and once he withdrew and your eyes opened, he was staring back. Neither dared to breathe.

"So um..." Hoseok's words fanned over you hotly as he whispered close to your lips; he hadn't moved away yet. "Will you go out with me?"
